Wacky Wednesday - Check in

No formal questions. Just let us know how you are, what you've been up to, any fun summer plans, or whatever. It feels like everyone has been MIA, so let's catch up!

Re: Wacky Wednesday - Check in

  • I've been doing well. We are entering busy season at work, so there's that. On a fun note, it's also concert season! So my concert buddy aka my sister and I have been going to concert one a week or so. The husband and I have been riding our bikes everywhere on the weekends, which has been an awesome way for us to spend time together that doesn't overly involve electronics.

Also THE WARRIORS ARE NBA CHAMPIONS! and the SF GIANTS ARE STILL WORLD SERIES CHAMPS.

  • We're doing fine. Our house guests aren't contagious any more, so that's a plus. The rain every single day puts a damper on all plans. And the flash flooding is UNbelievable! Everyone be careful!
(Allow me a little levity, if you will)

  • Good times here!  My bestie who joined the air force two years ago is coming to town this weekend - I haven't seen her since Christmas, so I'm super excited about that.  Next month I'll go see my nephews and niece and help my brother and SIL get packed to move to PA.  And then at the end of the month, they'll come stay with my parents here in town for a few weeks, so I'll get some extra kid time!

  • I'm getting settled in my new job and I think I'm really going to like it!   No great summer plans, except the one weekend I go away with friends is my new quarter end in which we are required to work that weekend.  They are so good otherwise that I really can't complain about 4 weekends a year, but this means I'll likely never be able to go again.  And it's not something they can easily change.  I'm bummin'.

On a positive note, J and Wes will still go so at least it will be peaceful at home.

I know I've been MIA fairly often lately. Things are good. Busy, but good. It's the end of our fiscal year at work so not as much time to nest or read. It is also birthday season for us. Pretty much every weekend from the end of May until early July is booked up with a kid's birthday party or celebration of some sort. Happens every year. DH has a huge family with a ton of June birthdays. I love/hate it.

We're going to Cherrystone, VA for camping in July. Can't wait!  We also have tickets to a 4 day country music festival in August. We will definitely squeeze in some kayaking day trips as well.

  • I'm back at work from maternity leave.  It's an adjustment, but we're working on it!  We're going to Charlotte next weekend for H's cousin's wedding and I have a tentative work trip in August that I think my mom is going to join me on so I can bring the baby.  Other than that we don't have anything planned.  It's already crazy hot outside though, so I worry this summer is going to be brutal.

  • I just finished a play and it was a wonderful experience. I loved my castmates. We just really gelled onstage and off. It was fabulous.

DH is being ordained by the VA UMC this weekend. I am so proud of him! It has been a long and arduous process. I also bought a pretty new dress. I'm determined NOT to look like the stereotypical preacher's wife! (the picture is too tiny to copy: http://www.hm.com/us/product/89968?article=89968-B#article=89968-B)

Tonight DH and I are going to see John Mellencamp. It's my belated birthday present. Next month we're going to Boston for a week and we'll see my favorites, U2, while we're there.

At the end of July I'm back under the knife. My foot isn't healing so a second surgery is coming. Boo!

Congrats to you on the play and DH's ordainment (is that a word?) I love the dress too, btw. Modest, but not dowdy or boring.

That was precisely my goal! The back is open but I have a black cami I can wear under it. Ordination is the word you're looking for. :) And for a giggle, I didn't see this in the store but when I was searching online I spotted it and about died. Um, NO! http://www.hm.com/us/product/27714?article=27714-A

  • I've been super busy with work and writing and having a boyfriend and a social life and planning for my next book. Other than that, I have four goats at my house (my roommate has goats), including one baby goat named Phoebe. She's super sweet and likes to chew on my clothes. Currently, I have a terrible cold, which is double bad since it's 95 degrees out.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

I'm here, kind of!  Summer has been incredibly busy so far.  So far this summer we've dealt with an injury and stitches for DD, house work (tiled our shower and had hardwoods installed), multiple illnesses for DD, and trips to the pool and playdates when we can fit them in.  Oh, and rain.  And more rain.

I've been reading the same book for about three weeks now because I am so tired at night!

July and August should be calmer.  The next big thing I am looking forward to the is Garth Brooks concert on July 4th.  Then my birthday a week later.

  • Count me in as MIA for the past few months but things are good. DH and I took an amazing 2 week trip to Orlando where we did Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, and Discovery Cove. That's the first time since our honeymoon we took a vacation longer than 4 days so it felt wonderful!

I'm hoping to finish all my doctoral work by August so I've had almost no time for reading unfortunately. My husband has run into some stupid situations at school so his doctorate is somewhat on hold while he gets that sorted out, if he even can...

Our only other trip this summer will be to Michigan. My husband works up there for two weeks each summer with a high school band so I normally tag along and hang out with some friends we have in the area.

I'm also trying to train for a marathon, I did one about 8 years ago and have wanted to do more even since, I just haven't had the time. Not sure which one yet since we don't know where we will be living in the fall, but it's been fun looking at the possibilities.

Oh my! That outfit is a doozy. I know it isn't nice to judge, but I bet that would raise some eyebrows!

Right?! Yowza! I showed it to DH and he just shook his head.

  • The Nest will only let me post every now and then, and I feel bad that I've not been able to join in here as much as I'd like. I've been generally busy with life and working on my nail business. I just finished up my next collection, and am really excited about it. It's inspired by He Man and She Ra and I just sent them out for blogger reviews. It's always really excited to see their more professional photos and that gets me excited all over again.

  • Things are good here. Everyone is happy and healthy. No great summer plans since I get no paid time off. Boo. But I really like my job and the commute. I'm trying to get hired full time since it looks like they are opening up a full time req. The girl I've been covering for on medical leave isn't coming back now.

Trying to get Jill to walk unassisted these days. Then the real fun begins.
