Re: QOTD 6/22

  • No, I'm not a tattoo person. DH has one on his back, I don't like it.  But, it means something to him, so I get it.

  • I don't have any. I've never found anything that I love enough to tattoo onto me.

H has two. On each of his shoulder blades on his back. He really wants to get them both covered, but that is expensive. Especially if you go to someone who specializes in cover ups.

  • We do not have any. I'd like to get a simple camera tattooed on my finger but it's not something I'm actively pursuing. D wants to get his blood type on his inner forearm (near where they give IVs).

  • Neither of us do. I'm too afraid of needles and H isn't interested.

  • I don't, I hate needles.  H has 2, a barbed wire arm band and I don't even know what on his shoulder.  He wants both covered up so it looked like his skin tearing open and theres gears etc.

  • I have two - the Japanese Kanji meaning 'endurance' on my shoulder and a line from Avenue Q, "only for now" on my ankle. I'm planning to go get a third next week for my birthday. My sister and I want to get matching ones, and we're still in talks as to what the design will be.

My husband also has 2, one on each bicep. A tiger fighting a dragon on the left, and a Nordic rune in a Celtic circle on the right. He keeps talking about getting one of Link from Legend of Zelda holding up the Triforce.

  • I have 3. I have a celtic lovers knot (the same symbol from Legendary pictures) on my right hip, a claddagh on my lower left back, and a version of the deathly hallows symbol (the circle is the snitch & the line is a broom) and around the triangle it has the "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" quote on my right side (it's a Harry Potter tattoo). I would love more, but I don't have anything at this time I'd be willing to put on my body forever. I very carefully considered the ones I have and don't have any regrets. H doesn't like tattoos, so none for him.

Is it bad if I got a tattoo it'd be a HP one?  I really want the Always with the A as the deathly hallows symbol.

  • Neither of us has one.  I really wanted one when I was younger but never got one.  I am glad that I didn't.

  • I have 3. First is a small angel wing on my foot for my mom. She is not deceased but it represents that she is now and will always be my guardian angel :)

Second is a blue lolly and endometriosis ribbon on my right hip near the ovary. At age 16 I was diagnosed with severe endo and was told that I would probably never have children. I got the tattoo as a way of coping and it still means as much to me 3 kids later <3

Third I got 2 large flowers on my left shoulder surrounded by vines and music notes. To me it represents the beauty of music and art, both of which are a big part of my life.

I want 1 more and it will be my children's names and footprints (taken at 8 weeks old as 8 is my lucky #) and their names up my rib cage

DH has 3 as well. He has the #17 on his arm, a lacrosse tattoo on his calf and our sons neon his forearm. He will get the girls names when we can afford it.

The only one I have a really good pic of is my back piece so I'll share that one!

haha I don't think so!! This is the link to the inspiration I gave my artist (the picture is huge if copied over). The biggest difference in mine is the snitch. She made it look like the one from the movie.  I'll see if I have a pic on my phone.

  • I have 4 that are all connected that go across my hip and right side.  The first one I got is a butterfly on my right pelvic bone.  The second one I got was my ex's name (so stupid) that is now covered up with a purple rose.  The third one goes across my lower back from one hip the other.  It's a swirly design with vines and leaves.  The fourth is more butterflies and swirly vines going up my right side from my hip to my rib cage.  Butterflies are my lucky charm and have a special meaning to me.

I have 3. Water and wind on my right calf, earth and fire on my right calf. Also I have one on my hip, I woke up with it in Vegas years ago. The tattoo parlor had $10 all you can drink, lol! I want to get one for alex.
    Dh has none.
  • Neither H nor I have one. Last I knew of, if I was to get one, I wanted an atom. H wanted to get an ultraviolet tattoo of the triforce from the Legend of Zelda.
But, we both hate needles, so...

  • I had a ladybug on my ankle that I had to have at 18.  I decided about 10 years I decided I wanted it removed.  I had a bunch of laser sessions and it was almost gone.  I took a break and nenver went back.  I probably only needed 2 or 3 more sessions for it to be completely gone.  There are spots where it is gone.

    H doesn't have any.

In case you're wondering about tattoo removal cost, I spent $50 to get the tattoo and about $1800 having it removed.  It was slightly larger than a quarter.
  • @sjs1013 It's crazy how expensive the removal is! My dad used to work at a tattoo parlour and they got requests for removals all the time, but nobody expected the huge cost.  I've heard it hurts way worse than the tattoo itself.

  • I have three. A rose on my lower right side of back that I had done i yellow be its my favorite flower. The color faded after a few years and when I went for one of my other tattoos I had it recolored in blue. The Wiccan symbol for triple moongoddess (maiden, mother, and crone) - symbolizes She is was, She who is and She who shall be. That is on my right ankle. I also have a moon / star image on my left ankle.
  • @danaocny are you Wiccan?  I went to high school with a girl who was Wiccan.  Just curious!
    image
  • @kittenwine the doctor that I went to used this giant machine that looked like a vacuum, but blew out freezing air.  He would freeze/numb the area before using the laser.  The actual treatment never hurt, but it would hurt for the next day or 2.  It would get a huge blister.  The blister was the worst part of it.
  • @ramstein1027 I have always been interested in Wicca. I remember as far back as middle school going to the library and researching it. I wouldn't say I was Wiccan but I would say it's more along the path of what I believe over the religion I was raised in. It's nothing like how the movies portray it!

@DanaOcNy That's how my friend in high school who was Wiccan described it.  I love learning about different religions, it's so fascinating!  :)
