Music Festivals: NBR

So I am headed to the Delaware Junction Country Music Festival in August. Can't wait!!!  Any NBCers going? We are actually going to camp there for 3 days. What on earth should I bring to wear? When I looked this up, the outfits I saw consisted of daisy dukes and cowboy boots. I am 37 and this look would definitely not work for me. I really just want to wear running shorts and t-shirts or tank tops. Is that ridiculous? It's going to be hotter than Hades in August.

Re: Music Festivals: NBR

  • Not ridiculous at all. I went to a 2 day country concert here a few years ago. Comfort was definitely priority. There was down time between acts, so people watching is a fun way to pass the time. The crazy stuff people wear can be really out there.

Repeated applications of sunscreen is definitely needed, plus someone to reach those hard to reach places for you.
  • Thank you! I am all about comfort. I'm excited to see some of my favorite performers and don't need to look super-cute or anything, but didn't want to look like schlub either. Should be interesting. :)

  • I love music festivals, especially ones where you camp!! My H and I have been to a ton of them, Camp Bisco, EDC, Ultra Music Festival, Firefly, Coachella, etc. I would recommend sundresses or shorts and tank tops like you said unless you're planning to join in on the elaborate costume-y outfits ;) You won't feel out of place with running shorts and a tank, I'm sure you'll see people wearing the whole spectrum of attire. I always keep in mind how hot, sweaty and dusty/dirty the crowd seems to get at festivals and go with closed-toed sneakers I don't mind getting dirty and light, flowy fabrics.

    Have a blast!!

Thanks for the tips! Firefly is actually only about 20 minutes away from my house, but I haven't gone yet.  The Delaware Junction Festival is only about 10 minutes away in the other direction. I was hoping to be able to sneak out in the mornings to go home to shower, but I think that it may be next to impossible to get out.

  • Oh wow- so convenient! We basically relied on baby wipes in the tent and then our friends we were camping with happen to bring one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Coghlans-9965-Camp-Shower/dp/B000VNITQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435249350&sr=8-1&keywords=solar+shower  So we used that right at our campsite (with bathing suits on!) Might come in handy for a longer festival.
