I hope this isn't too dumb of a question. We are going to start ttc in September and I'm trying to do all my research now so I'm ready. I'm using the fertility friend app right now and will probably use if for fertile windows when we want to try. What I'm interested to know is when do you all test while your ttc?

    Test for what? Ovulation? Pregnancy?


    TTC since 3/2012 
    DH - 36; nml swimmers; Me - 36; almost no AMH (last 0.081), low AFC, nml FSH/LH
    Clomid + IUI #1 (6/2013) - BFN; #2 (7/2013) - BFFN
    IVF 1.0 5R/5F/2T (ET 6/11/2014) - no frosties, but BFP 8dp5dt (EDD 3/1/2015) 
    Lost our sweet baby boy, Lincoln Alexander 10/3/2014 (19w)
    IVF 2.0 - ER 3/25/2015 - 3R ZERO mature.
    Ovaries are done...
    DE IVF ER - 12/2/2016 (17R/10F = 8 frosties); FET 1.0 (1/27/2017) - BFP 6dp5dt (EDD 10/16/2017)

    I probably should have been more specific, sorry about that. I'm curious when you all decide to test to see if you are pregnant.

    Gotcha... Definitely not a dumb question!

    Personally, I would base it on long your luteal phase is. With your tracking on FF for the next couple of months, you should have a good idea. Then, when the time comes to start TTC, if it's past the end of your typical luteal phase, that would be a good time to start testing. 

    Others, however, are a little less patient and would probably use cheapies and start testing about 6-8 days after ovulation. :)

    I tried to wait until my period was at least a day late. Testing early made me crazy. Good luck!

    I'm relatively new to all this and because I'm desperately trying to remain calm and relaxed, I have a mental pact with myself not to test unless my period is late. If nothing else it saves a little bit of money.

    I have just ordered Wondofo test strips from Amazon and I plan to start testing the day after AF is due if I can hold out. If not I will wait till one or two days before. I think once I have the tests in the house it will be harder to resist.

    I usually tested by 10DPO with a cheapie.  Sometimes earlier, but I have zero patience. 

    TTC since 1/13  DX:PCOS 5/13 (long, anovulatory cycles)
    Clomid 50mg 9/13 = BFP! EDD 6/7/14 M/C 5w6d Found 11/4/13
    1/14 PCOS / Gluten Free Diet to hopefully regulate my system.

    I'm not TTC yet, but I hope to wait until the day after my period is late to take an HPT. We will see what actually happens when the time comes.

    I always got impatient and tested 8 or 9 DPO (AF generally showed up 10 or 11 DPO).

    Count me among the impatient ones. I tested with Wondfos starting at like 7 DPO, I think. I had a 13-day luteal phase and ended up getting a faint BFP at 10 DPO.
