Weekend Reading

What did you start, finish, or neglect over the weekend?

Re: Weekend Reading

  • I neglected everything I've been reading or thinking about reading for the last week and a half.  My niece and nephews are in town and I've spent basically every free minute I have playing American Ninja Warrior or Princess or holding the baby.  I did manage to fit in several readings of That's Not My Princess.

  • I finished Wicked Charms (Lizzy & Diesle #3), it was a cute, quick read.  That was number 45 for the year.  Started Hexbound (Dark Elite #2), should be a fast read.

I'm doing a lot of rereading although I did finish The Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan. I should finish up listening to The Royal We and then I have to figure out what to listen to next. I have three credits on Audible at the moment.

  • I worked on Shadow Heir, but I still have 100 or so pages left.

  • I had a long drive, so I made a lot of progress in listening to A Discovery of Witches.  I'm enjoying it a lot.  Even if it does remind me a bit of Twilight sometimes.

I'm also about to finish Go Set a Watchman, and I've really enjoyed that too.  I think the pre-release reviews and articles were more for publicity than anything else, because I disagree with their predictions that the book could somehow alter Harper Lee's legacy or change Atticus Finch's character for the worse.  It's a broader social statement than TKAM was, and I think there is a little more depth to Atticus' character.  But I still have about 40 pages left.
  • I neglected everything this weekend. I am still working on 2 Richard Castle books, and 2 Tess Gerritsen books. I am hoping to be done with all 4 by Monday.
  • Finished The Husband's Secret and Make You Blush.

Started The Distance Between us by Kasie West and Never Never by Colleen Hoover. I ended up finishing The Distance Between Us last night. It was a quick cute read.

I'm reading A Drink Before the War and remembering why I love Dennis Lehane so much.

Listening to The Lost Wife. It's interesting and I'm enjoying it but I just know it's going to go all Holocaust on me soon and be sad as heck. I've heard it's really good though!
  • I had a beach day Friday so I got a lot of reading done. I read 150 pages of Wild by Cheryl Strayed over the weekend, so far it's very good but sad at the beginning (i.e. not a beach read.)

I also neglected The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. As soon as I finish "Wild" I'm going back to traveling to finish that up.

I started An Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. So far I really like it. Interesting historical event and it also reminds me a bit of Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret.

  • I finished listening to House Rules, book 7 in the Chicagoland Vampires series.  It was ok, it felt a bit like filler, but some important things happened so hopefully the next books will be good.

I read a little in Tuscan Rose and it's so strange.  It reminds me in part of The Sound of Music, but with some weird fantasy element that has grossed me out a bit.  Not enough for me to stop reading though lol

  • I'm reading Ritual by Mo Hayder. It's good, but I've only been able to read a little at a time.
