  • The fresh faced barely non teens working at my local Dunkin' Donuts all call me ma'am.  I suppose to them, I am, but I HATE it.

    Speaking of fresh-faced kids:
My paralegal is irrationally (I think) upset that the undergrad interns that work up the hall from us this summer come to work in cargo shorts and boat shoes.  The girls usually have on dresses or maxi skirts and dressy sandals, but the dudes are really casual.  They work in the agency director's office, technically, but their job is running this big family outdoors challenge event that runs statewide all summer.  I don't think they need to be business casual for that.
  • And also, I found out yesterday that GR is no longer blocked on my work computers!  I'm sure they're still watching everyone's internet use, but at least I can get on there at lunch time now.

I had forgotten what non-mobile GR looked like!

I am tired of telling adults to check their spam folders for the background verification requests only to be ignored. I could understand if it was their first job out of school. But working professionals? No. I'm not paid to babysit. Pay effing attention.

  • I am home recovering from my second bout of foot surgery on Tuesday. Today is better than yesterday in that the nausea is mostly gone and the headache has faded to tolerable, but of course the foot throbs and I'm couch bound. I brought work home to do, but honestly, my brain can't tolerate anything that requires concentration so it's just sitting in the other room. I'm watching Anthony Bourdain instead (sort of) and napping frequently.

  • There's a mouse in our library.  My coworkers are losing their minds.  I think it's hilarious and adorable.

  • I applied this morning for a position at a college library 20 minutes away. It would be for Technical Services and Interlibrary Loan Assistant. I was in heaven when I read that. No idea the pay but I would beat myself up for not applying to that.
  • @sassypants527 I'm sorry your recovery is rough.  DH was couch bound for a couple of months last summer and fall, and I know he was utterly miserable.  I hope that you continue to get better quickly and you're back on your feet soon!

@kelshaws1311 Good luck with the job!
  • I'm pretty behind at work since summer is super busy, but I don't have motivation to catch up since I"m taking a vacation day tomorrow. Also, back to the unpopular opinion thread we had, a friend of mine started working for a company that sells facial products and now they're promoting it on FB as "you go hardworking mommas, earn money while raising your kids", I'm sorry I can't stand it, don't invite me to your online product party!

Babysitting adults is so frustrating. I had someone go on and on yesterday how their advisor doesn't get back to them, only to tell me they don't check their school email (this is a grad student) nor their junk folder. *sigh*
  • I want to go back to the days when we have 5 page confession posts.

Also, a bird pooped on my head last night. In the middle of dinner on the desk of a restaurant.  Stupid bird!

But REAL confessions. I feel like we need to post the definition of confession. Lately, they read like the Thursday Randoms.

I agree. Like you confess that you occasionally drive drunk.  It's OK because you feel REALLY bad about it.

ETA: And by you, I don't mean @MrsJenE for those who weren't here for that one.

I feel like the vibe here has changed. I don't get the warm and fuzzies like I used to. I'll admit it's kept me away some. I wonder if some of the lost nestie feel the same way.

  • I don't understand how the warm and fuzzies assessment can be made when this board is dead.

  • Are people at least lurking?  I got to the point where I stopped even checking the board because it was so dead.

No clue. I know that I sometimes stop checking all together.

  • Yeah, it comes in waves for me too.  I wonder what would make people come back or if they have just moved on from the board. I do miss talking to some NBCers regularly!
