Re: Monday Accountability
1. How MM was your weekend? Just one big slurge this weekend- new Nikon 15-200 mm lens for our camera ($600). DH is going grocery shopping with the girls today
2. Any progress towards goals? No change- get through the summer and be back on track once DH starts teaching in the fall
3. What do you like about the month of August? Everything! The weather (we're in NY, so the temps are awesome!), our wedding anniversary, my birthday, and most importantly, DD#1's birthday.. it's a great month!
1. $31 Paddleboarding, $12 Home Depot, $50 Walmart, $34 Chinese food
2. Nothing yet, we get paid this week
3. I hate the heat of August, but I do like that some fairs start at the end of the month!
2. Not this week. We're waiting until the bathroom remodel is completely over and we've written the contractor their last check to make this month's big extra payment on the student loan.
3. Nothing in particular. It's crazy hot! The only thing I can think of in particular is it's our dating anniversary. Every year we go to dinner where we had our first date - T-Rex, a kids restraurant with animatronic dinosaurs that you can see in my photo at left.
We were bad... Got carried away at sushi restaurant and spent way too much Friday night. Then we painted our deck and went way over budget. We were extremely picky and ended up getting the expensive paint. Then one of the colors ended up looking horrible, so we had to go back and buy an extra can of $50 paint.
2. Any progress towards goals? Not really this week. I will put money into savings next week.
3. What do you like about the month of August? One month closer to fall! Fall is my favorite, and August is the time where I start saying "I can't wait until fall" every single day (poor DH for having to listen to that.)
1. How MM was your weekend?
All on track. $50 for two tanks of gas, $36 for DH's oil change, $90 on groceries - a big stock up on pork loin.
2. Any progress towards goals?
We'll put $100 towards car replacement fund today.
3. What do you like about the month of August?
Nothing, it's my least favorite month. It's unbearably hot outside and since we live in a college town, we're about to have 15,000+ people added to our city again. It's noticeably more difficult to get anywhere in town during the school year. It's also a really busy month at work with our budget finalization and preparations for our annual conference.
1. How MM was your weekend?
We did well. $60 on groceries, $10 on pizza, and $4 on Starbucks while studying. I sold a pair of jeans that I bought pre-pregnancy and never got the chance to wear before I grew out of them, so I made $36.
2. Any progress towards goals?
$1000 starter emergency fund is now fully funded!
3. What do you like about the month of August?
Nothing in particular. It's kind of a boring month for us, but at least it won't be spendy.
1. How MM was your weekend?
It was pretty terrible I won't lie. $190 for H's birthday gift. It was kind of a freak thing where I was on ticketmaster checking out comedy shows and Jerry Seinfeld tickets were going on sale in 5 minutes, so it seemed like destiny. I'm so excited to give them to him since he loves the show I think it'll be worth the money. $40 for dinner Saturday and yesterday while boating I lost my Oakley sunglasses in 20 foot deep water.
They were $200 (stupid I know) and I've only had them for 2 years so I'm pretty irritated with myself. Plus $50 at target for some summer clearance stuff, shorts and bathing suits.
2. Any progress towards goals? Not a pay week so nope.
3. What do you like about the month of August? I love the whole month. We have an annual beach trip we do so I'm looking forward to that. It's my birthday month (though I'm starting to hate that) and it's H's birthday month. It's warm, the watermelon is juicy, corn on the cob, crabs... the list goes on and on!
1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad. Paid all bills (budgeted), $100 groceries (way under budget, yay!), $12 frozen yogurt, $40 baby shower gift (budgeted)
2. Any progress towards goals? Paid off our mattress set; used money that we had saved up for our porch project to pay off our emergency vet bill. Since our porch is delayed until September, we figured we could re-save that amount and not pay interest on it in the meantime.
3. What do you like about the month of August? Nothing in particular; I just love that it is still summer, yet things start to slow down a little bit and it's not as touristy.
Good! $120 on groceries, $8.00 on a batting helmet for the kiddo (thanks to a huge clearance deal!), $30 gas
2. Any progress towards goals?
H and I both are paid this week (Friday). Usual planned payments. With school starting next month, we'll be back to having school tuition in addition to daycare. We'll pull one month of tuition early as a buffer. We like to pay a head on that.
3. What do you like about the month of August?
Getting in last minute trips (zoo this weekend!) and getting our oldest ready for school. Ever since I was in high school (?) and college, August was always a fun, crazy month before the return of the routine in September. Even before my kiddo started school last year, September always feels like a new start. Similar to January 1st.
1. How MM was your weekend? Great! $15 to church, $27 on gas, $20-something on food and beer for a cookout at home yesterday.
2. Any progress towards goals? Last week I received my new no-foreign-transaction fee credit card for our trip. I'm excited to start using it and gathering miles toward next year's vacation (don't worry, I pay it off every month).
3. What do you like about the month of August? I like that it's finally the thick of summer (I'm in the midwest), cookouts, being outside, the sounds of the outdoors...and it's our anniversary!
- Good. $100 on groceries. That's it.
2. Any progress towards goals?
- $300 to our move money account.
3. What do you like about the month of August?
- Only that it's one month closer to fall. Not a fan of summer now that we've left the desert. The humidity is killing me.
1. How MM was your weekend?
125 for groceries.... it was a stock up week so a lot of that was meat that was on sale . 30 on a birthday gift
2. Any progress towards goals?
Our cable has officially been shut off and we've signed up for Netflix.... theres more to watch on Netflix then paying 90/month for cable!
I have 1740 ready to be paid on my car but i think i'm going to wait until the 10th when i get paid so i can use the 650 from august and just pay it off!
3. What do you like about the month of August?
Dh's and I dating anniversary is at the end of the month so it will be nice to actually go out to a restaurant. Ofcourse we are using gift cards we bought a while ago so all we have to pay is tip.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good. $36 at Home Depot for odds and ends to spruce up my rental. Then $33 on Sunday night for Chinese food after we had spent all day on the "deep clean" for the rental (other half of my duplex rental).
2. Any progress towards goals?
Didn't happen on the weekend, but I finally closed yesterday on my next rental property!!! Big progress toward my goals. About to write a post about it.
3. What do you like about the month of August?
Me and @simplyelise are kindred spirits on this. August is my least favorite month. It is unbearably hot and the height of hurricane season. In fact, August 29th this year is the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
2. Got our first application for the rental house. It was a complete bust (lady had a drug possession conviction and tried explaining it as we just had Tylenol. Lol, no!)
3. That it's almost the school year. Ds starts a mommies day out program twice a week in September and I can't wait.
