Drs. Appointment question

I need some advice. Right now, I'm going in for a nurse's appointment on Sept 4, which I don't think that J wants to go to anyway. But they wanted to schedule me for Sep 21 for the first ultrasound. Problem is, between J and I going, both of us have little to no time we can take off, and the earliest evening appointment they have is the 29th. Do you think it's a problem to wait a week more than the doctor wants? Or should we both take time off to go? The biggest problem is that J doesn't want to tell his boss, because his dad works for the company too... and I don't want to tell anyone until after the u/s. Which puts us in a lovely catch 22...

Re: Drs. Appointment question

  • I think you're fine to wait until the later date for the ultrasound. The doctor is likely requesting it just to confirm how far along you are. If it was a problem the person making the appointment would let you know.

  • She sounded like she wasn't thrilled about me going that far, but it's really the best for our schedules. Thanks Am.

  • I agree with Am. I don't think 8 days is going to change things at all. How far along will you be by then??

Halfway through week 9.  The receptionist said something about looking to see if any cancellations come up by that point.

  • I also agree. Unless you're having issues, do what works for you guys. And man, what is it with receptionist and attitudes? Lol.

  • Waiting shouldn't be a problem.
  • She didn't have that much attitude, she just wanted me to get in sooner than that. Apparently by the time you have a kid you are supposed to have 5 weeks vacation to just take time off for appointments whenever,...

  • My doctors gives me that vibe too. I had to pretty much scream at the lady when I rescheduled mine that I have a fulltime 1st shift job.

  • See if you ladies can take half days to go to appointments. I know I did that a lot.

  • I always tried to schedule late afternoon appointments so DH would only need to miss an hr of work.

When you're pregnant you have tons of appointments.

  • I did lunch time appts so J could be there if he wanted and I didn't miss much work.  He only came to ultrasounds.
  • I wish I could do lunch appointments, but I work about an hour away from the doctor, so it's pretty impossible. I tried to schedule afternoon, but they don't have a lot of them. I wish I could take half days, but I only have 2.5 days of "sick days" left. After that, I have to go without pay.

  • Since I work at a gas station, there are no half days and I have no vacation or sick days. I managed to get my actual appointment on a Friday, which I will have off this semester so Ty can go. Otherwise, I'll be going by myself if I can't get Friday appointments.

  • Late chiming in but I agree on a later appointment being fine. And fitting the appointments into your schedule is important. I do mine super early in the morning but P doesn't go to most. At the first appointment they did ask a lot of medical history questions for both P and I. So you can either write that stuff down for T or ask him and take the answers back at your next appointment.

  • Oh I'm fine lol. They sent a history form in the mail so we have that to fill out. T was a little upset cause he wants to be there. I told him just to be there for the important ones

  • J wasn't really upset. I wanted him there more than he wanted to be there. But the u/s is the only one that I'm really worried about.

And I know more about J's medical history than he does. I always have to go with him to doctor appointments
