NBR Wanderlust questions

I have a bit of wanderlust so I thought I'd extend it to you and see what everyone else is thinking about....

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Have you already been there?

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there?

Warmer or cooler climate?

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports?

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite?

Re: NBR Wanderlust questions

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?  Ireland is on the top of my list.

Have you already been there?  No :(

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there?  History, geography.  And I'm not gonna lie, beer.

Warmer or cooler climate? I would like it in the 50s-60s.  That's where I'm most comfortable.  Boots and a long sleeve shirt/sweater weather.

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports? A bit of both.  I don't like jam packed travels, but I get restless sitting around too long.

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite? My international travel is limited to England/France, so I'll go with that.  It was a LONG time ago though.

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?  This answer would be different every day if you asked me again and again, because I want to go everywhere.  But lately I've been pining for the expanses of unspoiled beauty of somewhere like Yellowstone.

Have you already been there?  Nope

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there?  It's just so pristine, and quiet and lovely.

Warmer or cooler climate?  I'd like to go in the summer, but I guess maybe it would still be a bit cooler than here.  Temperate.

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports?  A bit of both.  I want to explore, but also just relax and take it all in.

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite? I haven't traveled all that much, but of the places I've been either Scotland or Aruba are my favorites, for completely different reasons.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? It keeps changing. I want to go to Alaska, I want to go to New Zealand, I want to go to Ireland, I want to go to Scotland, and most recently after flying, I want to to to Arizona or New Mexico

Have you already been there? Nope!

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there? Well for a great deal of them it has to do with scenery. Landscape. In some cases it is a history thing. Flying over Arizona and New Mexico was beautiful, and I'm typically a water loving person!

Warmer or cooler climate? Cooler I think. I guess it depends on the time of year.

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports? All activity all the time. Even in my down time I try to at swim or take local walks.

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite? Well I just got back from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago, so that is fresh in my mind. I didn't really do relaxing on the beach, but I did take a bunch of hikes and went swimming in waterfalls. So that was completely amazing. Seriously one of the greatest things I have ever done.
If I had taken the trip I took to Mexico when I was older rather than when I was 10, it would probably top the list. We went to Chichen Itza, which was awesome, and went swimming in an underground river.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
    "I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Mt. Nyiragongo lava lake, Democratic Republic of the Congo

    Have you already been there?
No. For the past few years the national park has been closed due to safety and security risks.

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there?
I've loved volcanoes since I was a kid, and I've been inspired by the old sketches of turn-of-the-century travelers on the edge of the lava lake in Hawaii. Nyiragongo has the largest lava lake in the world.

    Warmer or cooler climate?
Cooler. There's a trip to the Erta Ale lava lake in Ethiopia that aligns perfectly with our Christmas holidays this year, but the idea of trekking up a volcano in 100+°F desert really puts me off the idea.

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports?
I prefer a mix, but I have to have some activity or I go stir crazy.

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite?
Antarctica. Hands down. It was incredibly beautiful and so unbelievably remote.

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Ireland is the one place I HAVE to see at least once

Have you already been there? No our plan is to wait until our boys are teenagers and can fully enjoy it, and take a 2 week vacation over there.

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there? The accents! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and being that my husband and I both have strong Irish in us we want to visit.

Warmer or cooler climate? I could not really enjoy a tropical vacation. I have super pale and I can't handle heat in the upper 90's very well. Cooler would be okay with me

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports? Mixture of both. I love to go exploring, but I don't like to plan things. I also like to just sit with a book and relax and take in the area.

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite? I have never been outside of the US. In the US it would have to be New York City. It was such a beautiful neat city to visit.
  • I've also always wanted to go to the North Pole, and I'd like to do a cruise that passes through the Panama Canal.
  • I love it, you guys! You are sooo feeding desire to travel!
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
London (I'm going in october and can't wait!) & Italy (Venice)
Have you already been there? Nope, never been out of the US (niagra falls excluded)

What do you like about this place/what makes you want to travel there? The culture mostly--I think i'm a bit of an anglophile and I'm half Italian so I'd love to see where my family is from

Warmer or cooler climate? I'm all for laying out on the beach....that being said if I'm being touristy in a big city I would want it cooler for sure

Would you rather relax and not do much activity on vacation or explore the sites/activities/sports? If I'm going tropical- all I want to do is relax with a drink in my hand otherwise I'm all about absorbing as much as I can for as little as I'm there. I don't really do sporty things like surfing, snow boarding, etc

What destination have you already been to that was your favorite? Well I haven't been many places....at all. Sooooo probably Sarasota & Orlando, FL
