Jeans for short ladies

Fall is fast approaching and I need new jeans. Any recs for decent jeans? Preferably ones that don't cost a fortune and have a mile long inseam. I have heard that Gap jeans are good for the vertically challenged, but haven't tried them probably since high school.

Re: Jeans for short ladies

  • American Eagle has jeans that are short, regular, and long. I like them for jeans that don't cost a fortune.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I don't consider myself short (I'm 5'6"), but my jeans all come from Old Navy.
    I don't even love ON jeans, but they're cheap and so am I, so . . .

This made my giggle-snort for some reason. Not good since I am in a meeting. It just sounds like something I would say.

  • I've had good luck with American Eagle and The Limited. I need new jeans, too! I can't wait for fall. I'm in Texas so only two months to go. ;)

  • I'm 5'0 and I have always had luck with Maurice's brand jeans. I buy the short length for when I want to wear flats, and get the regular length so I can wear my boots and not have high waters. My local one always has a great clearance section and I typically can find jeans for $5. The quality is good too because I typically only buy 1 a year.
  • Target jeans have their inseam listed now which I LOVE. I hate "short, regular, long" because it doesn't really mean anything, as those are just labels. I like going in knowing what exact inches I need. They aren't the most long-lasting jeans on earth, but you can get them for less than $20 sometimes, so there ya go ;)

I'm due for a trip to Target so I will have to check their's out. Actually, I may head to their website shortly. I am curious to see how short of an inseam they offer. I'm 4'11".

  • I am 5' with short legs.  I have always had good luck with Target jeans and also Banana Republic.  I also find the length of Old Navy and Gap jeans are good but I always have a problem with the waist.  They just gape too much.

  • I'm 4'11 and 3/4 (HEY - that 3/4 is important!), and I love American Eagle short length jeans. Skinny kicks have just the right amount of flair, and the skinny jeans work well for me too. I'm pretty squat and round, and I need a bigger size for my middle than I need for my legs. The skinnies end up fitting like regular jeans.

I just bought a pair with a 29" inseam at Target.

  • I just have to say this post has made me happy. I love that I'm not the only short person at 5'. That is my entire life surrounded by tall people.
  • I love Target jeans.  Also, I learned how to hem my own jeans and keep the original hem, which has made jeans shopping infinitely easier - unless they have any kind of fading on them.  It's THE WORST when the fade that's supposed to be on the thigh area is down around your knees.

I have been wanting to learn how to do this forever, but always put it off.  Of course, I can barely sew on a button, much less navigate a sewing machine.

  • I've had good luck with RL Chaps.
