I finally just finished reading "Wayward" (I'm just emabarassed it took me a couple of weeks since it's so short. I have to say for a 2nd book in a trilogy I'm pretty happy. I thought this one moved a bit faster, the author wasn't hung up on so many details for several pages as he did in the 1st book. So many characters and twists and turns. Here are some thoughts, feel free to add more. Should we also do predictions for the 3rd book? I'm going to start that tonight, had to wait for my new Kindle credits.
1. I figured Hassan and Theresa were having an affair, although I couldn't figure out who this Tobaias was, must say I was a bit shocked when they revealed that.
2. Pilcher is a sick man, who kills their own daughter? I feel so bad for his 1st wife where she was trying to avoid being frozen, did she actually go to the future with them?
I'm confused with Pamela too, they said she was 14 when she met Pilcher, but on the 1st episode of the TV show she seemed much older. Is the casting wrong or well I guess I"m answering my own question, she might have aged to 30ish before they were frozen? The timeline was a bit confusing for me.
3. I'm so fascinated by the technology, the whole microchips and cameras, although I don't think I'd want to be chipped.
Re: Wayward (Wayward Pines book 2) Spoilers
DH and I have noticed A LOT of changes between the book and the show, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the TV show explaining anything at all about the books. The character of Pam in the show and Pam in the books, I think, are drastically different people.
I LOVED these books. I don't think the 2nd and 3rd could possibly stand alone, and all 3 books are relatively short, so I feel like they make more sense as one giant novel, and I'm glad that I read them all pretty much back to back. I think if I hadn't read the books, I would've really loved the TV show, too. As it is, I've really enjoyed it, but I tend to get hung up on the differences and don't appreciate the show for what it is as much as I might have if I hadn't read the books.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts of the 3rd book!
