Never have I ever....book version

Let's play a game. So we're gonna play never have I ever with books.... how this will work is say something about a book you've never read. Examples: "never have I ever read a dystopian novel" or "never have I ever read a book by Nora Roberts" and then the person who comments after will make a recommendation to the person above that will fulfill their "Never" and then of course put a never of their own.... sound like fun?

I'll go first...

Never have I ever read a horror book

I'm a sucker for Nicholas Sparks, although I'm not sure if that counts depending on how you define "romance". My all time favorite is A Walk to Remember (very different than the movie) and Dear John was really good, but very sad.

Also SnShne322 Nineteen Minutes is fantastic. The Pact is what got me into Jodi Picolt novels.

Never have I ever read an Ann Rule book, but I like the Lifetime movie adaptations.
  • @angelashly - Rose Gordon has several enjoyable series. Her Sudden, Her Reluctant, and Her Secondhand Groom are all good.

Never have I ever read paranormal romance.

Try the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. It was my first foray into PNR. I rolled my eyes when my IRL friend was talking about it, but then saw all the raves on NBC and had to pick it up. The Fever series my Karen Marie Moning is also very good, IMO.

I have never read a Nora Roberts book.

This is cheating a wee bit, but the In Death books under her JD Robb pen name are fantastic. If you like the TV show Castle at all, you'd probably like this series. Eve Dallas, the main character, reminds me a tiny bit of Beckett.

I really liked Nora Robert's Bride Quartet series. It starts with Vision in White. It's a light series about 4 friends that work in wedding planning.

Never have I ever started to write a book.

Kristan Higgins is my go-to author rec for romance novels for people who think they probably wouldn't like romance novels, especially if they do like women's fiction. Her Blue Heron series starting with The Best Man was one of my favorite discoveries this year.
