  • I have a couple going because I can't decide what to continue with

Actual Book: The Raven Boys and An Unlikely Event
    Kindle: The Diviners

I just finished Emmy and Oliver early last night and I loved it so I had a hard time starting a  book at bedtime.

  • Still reading Schismatrix Plus.
Its structure is very episodic. I don't do well with episodic novels. This was why I struggled with Outlander.

Started listening to Code Name Verity.

  • I'm listening to The Way of Kings, it is #65, it's great!

I'm reading Frostfire, it is #66, so far it's good.

  • I am all over the place because I suck at reading lately.

I am doing a re-read of Mila 18 by Leon Uris.   It is one of my favorite books ever and I lent it to a friend who is reading it right now.  It has been forever since I read it and I would like to be able to discuss with the friend that I lent it to, so I have decided it was time for a re-read.

I am also working on The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman.

And I have yet to finish  The Story Teller  by Jodi Picoult (it was our IRL book for bookclub last month) and The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley which I have been reading since July.

  • I just finished Raising an Adult last night and am still slogging through some stupid serial killer mystery which I thought would be much better than it is. Currently browsing the library website for something good to read next.

  • I finished #Selfie by Cambria Herbert last night. Reading this series has been fun, but I should probably pick up something with a little more meat to it soon. I started Infinity + One by Amy Harmon last night. I really enjoyed Making Faces by her, so hopefully it will be a good one. I'm considering doing a reread of the Grisha series soon as well.

The first two are two of my favorites from this year! I was surprised how much I enjoyed The Royal We.

I'm reading The Heir of Fire. So far it's great and I don't want it to end.

  • I'm about halfway through Joe Hill's Horns, and about 3/4 the way through the audiobook of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time prequel New Spring. My Goodreads win came on Wednesday and I'm looking forward to starting that after I finish Horns. It's called The Making of Home: The 500-year Story of How Our Houses Became Our Homeshttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23848220-the-making-of-home

  • @sassypants527

Have you read the Wheel of Time series?

I've been debating whether or not to start, but there are so many books, it's overwhelming.

I've been debating whether or not to start, but there are so many books, it's overwhelming. I just finished listening to the series. I picked up
New Spring because I'm not ready to let go of the characters even though it's taken me a couple of year's-worth of commutes to listen my way through the series. It gets a little bogged down in the middle and he's overfond of repeating details about characters that anyone who is committed to the series is already well familiar with but over all I really enjoyed it. But yes, the sheer volume of pages is quite overwhelming!

  • Should I start with New Spring or The Eye of the World?

  • I finished Queen of Shadows yesterday, so I'll spend a day or two just basking. It was SO EPIC!

@nocturnalintimacy - no matter which you choose, there is massive world building. That said - New Spring is the prequel. Two of the major characters of the series are very young women in New Spring. It does a good job explaining the world and the magic without too much bog down. It's a small novel, so you may as well start with it. I began WOT with New Spring on my H's recommendation.

I would start with Eye of the World. New Spring is kind of spoilerish but after you've read that first book pick up New Spring before going on to The Great Hunt.

  • I just started Station Eleven (after chickening out on Revival because it was giving me so much anxiety) and I absolutely love it. Shakespearean acting troupe in a post-apocalytic world, yes please. It's so thoughtful and unlike anything else I've ever encountered.

I also started listening to Ceremony in Death (In Death #5) by JD Robb this week. Listening to a new book in this series always makes me feel like I'm catching up with old friends. I started something called Sparrow Hill Road by Seanan McGuire too. It's clever, and I liked it, but it's a series of connected ghost stories and I just needed to stop and find something more comforting after a hard week. I'll go back to it though.
