I'm reading The Heir of Fire. So far it's great and I don't want it to end.
My Badges:
Have you read the Wheel of Time series?
I've been debating whether or not to start, but there are so many books, it's overwhelming. I just finished listening to the series. I picked up New Spring because I'm not ready to let go of the characters even though it's taken me a couple of year's-worth of commutes to listen my way through the series. It gets a little bogged down in the middle and he's overfond of repeating details about characters that anyone who is committed to the series is already well familiar with but over all I really enjoyed it. But yes, the sheer volume of pages is quite overwhelming!
My Badges:
@nocturnalintimacy - no matter which you choose, there is massive world building. That said - New Spring is the prequel. Two of the major characters of the series are very young women in New Spring. It does a good job explaining the world and the magic without too much bog down. It's a small novel, so you may as well start with it. I began WOT with New Spring on my H's recommendation.
