Hi everyone.  I'm new here from The Knot.  We got married 6 days ago.  I just finished up my last pack of BC pills (Minastrin/Loestrin) and we are planning on giving it a few months to let my body figure itself out again (been on the pill for 3.5 years) and then probably start seriously making some attempts around Christmas.  I'm 33 so I would like to get PG sooner rather than later, but I know that's something I can't really control.  I watched my BFF go through 6 miscarriages and 2 IVF attempts that ended in miscarriages both times (even gave her injections myself when her H had to be gone for a funeral) before ending up adopting, so it kind of freaks me out to be in that position.  We just want one little one.

Any advice on anything else I should be doing at this point?  My mom already went and bought me pre-natal vitamins when I sent her to Kmart to buy silver polish before the wedding, she's SO ready to be a grandma :-D

ETA: I talked to my NP at my last physical this spring and she said she doesn't see any medical reasons why I would have issues conceiving.... so let's hope she's right.  I'm switching insurances on Jan 1 to Kaiser so I can't get a new doc just yet.

Re: Hello!

  • Welcome!  If you haven't already, I would recommend checking out fertilityfriend.com. Take their online tutorials and start charting if you're wanting to get a jump on the game! Good luck to you :)

  • Welcome and congratulations on getting married! I definitely second the recommendation for charting your BBT. It has been very helpful for me to know what is (or isn't) going on with my body.
