Yes, my son is almost 7 months and I've been planning his birthday party for a while.
Entertain me and tell me what you did for your child's 1st birthday or what you have seen while attending a 1st birthday party.
We have a huge family so we will have a lot of people to entertain and a lot of kiddo's in the 3-8 yr old age range with a couple of babies in the mix.

Re: 1st birthday parties
I havent been to a winter 1st birthday so most of what i have seen has been water balloon toss, etc for entertainment for the kids.
Maybe you could have them decorate ornaments??
Whats your theme?
I was exactly like you and started planning Katie's birthday party in Nov (so 4 months before hand) It was so much fun and I seriously wish I could be a party planner as my full time job.
We had a fairly large first birthday party for Katie (a little over 100 people). We rented a hall and had it catered. For the babies, I brought the alphabet mat and set up a corner in the hall dedicated to that. I brought lots of toys to keep them occupied. I also had our PnP there which ended up being a necessity. The parents were grateful to have somewhere to change their children without a hassle. For the older children (ages 3-7) I made goody bags for with things to keep them busy. (coloring books, crayons, crayola art projects, card games, bouncy balls, etc) Everything really turned out well and I would like to think everyone had a nice time.
Happy Planning!
That will be a fun theme!

You could have a few Dr. Seuss books for him and have everyone who comes sign it so he knows who came to his 1st birthday party
Favors..
bags of Multi-color swedish fish (one fish two fish)

ohhh how I love party planning!!
Do you want food/decor ideas too??
What about getting some Dr. Suess books to use as the guestbook? Have people write notes in the first few pages. It would make a fun keepsake.
You could also make a giant memory game with Dr. Suess pictures. Just print them out, mount them on construction paper (and laminate them if you want to get fancy).
And, jello deviled eggs in green for green eggs!
