Today was the first day of our (estimated) 10 day $14,000 (estimated) bathroom remodel. They spent the day doing demo, but found an ant colony in the attic which we had to hire an exterminator to get rid of before they could do any more work. Not terrible, but the exterminator is coming first thing tomorrow morning at an extra cost of $130. This is our only bathroom so tomorrow is also the first day of showering at my in-laws. :) Fortunately, the construction crew will be able to reset the toilet every night, so at least we can sleep in our own bed!

  • Wow- what a fun project. We'll be gutting our upstairs bathroom if we decide to stay at our current home. Can't wait to see the progress!

  • Wow great! Keep us posted!
  • Awesome!  Thank goodness for at least a working toilet through the remodel.
  • I love seeing remodels and the before and afters!  Good luck!
  • It doesn't feel like there's been much progress in three days, but tomorrow the plumber is coming to place the tub, raise the shower head and then replace the old outgoing rusted metal pipes with new plastic. They're still promising we can use the shower by next Friday. We shall see...

  • We started our kitchen reno in June then while waiting for cabinets, we decided to move up the bathroom renovation too!  We gutted it 7/22-25 and we finally have walls again as of yesterday!  We've been w/o a tub the whole time, and without a toilet since 7/26 -- been using a port-o-potty in the driveway. It's definitely been a challenge renovating our only bathroom, but seeing how it's coming together, it'll be totally worth it!!!!

So exciting!!!!!!  Can't wait to see your after pics!!!!

I am so impressed - I'd just pack up and move before going the porta potty route! Good for you!! We got a new tub and new plumbing over the weekend. Still keeping our fingers crossed we can use that beautiful tub a week from today!

We considered staying at my mom's for a bit but we have a pitbull and her apartment complex doesn't allow pitbulls :(  So, portopotty it is!

Thank you! Our house is a 1951 cap cod so we've tried to maintain that original charm.

  • I LOVE everything about it!  It's just gorgeous.

Are you looking for towels?  PB towels are a dream.  We got some of the 820 gram ones for our wedding, and my H refuses to use anything else ever again.  They are worth every penny.

Thank you! We'll probably get a few new hand towels, but the bath towels from our wedding are still in pretty good shape. We are looking at their white waffle weave shower curtain and a patterned rug. All our fixtures (including the lighting) are from there. The sconce above the mirror was actually cheaper than what we saw anywhere else!

We have that shower curtain in our guest bath and LOVE it.  We often get compliments on it when we have guests over.

  • It looks awesome- is there a reason you didn't take the tile up to the ceiling? We're going to be gutting our upstairs bathroom probably in February. We're planning on white subway tile up to the ceiling but a bulk of the examples I see stop at that point too. Just wondering if it was design driven or did the contractor say not to go to the ceiling?

Thank you! As for the tile, it's just a personal preference - we liked this look better.
