AW: I totally forgot to brag about this today!
I just started The Martian yesterday, and
@RevJen is right, I frickin love it! Lo and behold, I got a call from former astronaut Leland Melvin today. He was calling to say he got the DVD of the interview I did with him and he's so pleased with it and to also talk about a book he's working on. Naturally, book conversations turned to the fact that I am reading
The Martian and it has made me think of him ever since I started it, and we were now talking about how awesome the book is! He also saw the film this past weekend at some awesome-sounding movie theatre in SF that not only has the 3-D but also seats that move/vibrate with the action in the film. If an astronaut, someone who knows EXACTLY what that experience feels like IRL, thought it was badass, it was totally badass, and now I want to find a theatre like that!
I'm totally spazzing right now. It just sank in how awesome this whole experience has been. I'm glad I wasn't a total dork on the phone.
Re: AW: I totally forgot to brag about this today!
The theater we went to has 3d, but I can't really see 3d, so we went to the 2d version. I'd love to see it in Imax, if they did that, though.
When I got home, I wound up putting on a brief documentary about Neil Armstrong. Like I hadn't had enough space for the night!
Sugar & Spice
We have one of those theaters. The moving seats freak me out. First time we went was for HP7 pt 2. They didn't stop moving the for the entire battle at Hogwarts.
