2015 Goals Check-In

How are you doing?  Ahead, behind, on track?  Made any goal changes?

Re: 2015 Goals Check-In

  • I didn't have a hard goal, but I always hope to read more than last year, and I have already surpassed that.  So, mission accomplished!
  • I hit my goal of 100 last month.

I'd like to reach 150, which is what I read last year but I'm not sure that's doable with the holidays.

  • Right on track. 20 out of 25 books. I hope to up it next year. I miss my 100 book years.

  • I'm at 90/100 with 9 books ahead of schedule.  I'm pleased with this after a big lull in the spring.

  • I'm at 171/200 - so barring any unforeseen events that would keep me from reading, I should make it!

  • My goal was to read 80 books.  I met that last week.  I'm at 82 now and am hoping I can make it to 100 by the end of the year.

  • I always feel like such a slacker. I've read 16.5 (I'm 300 pages through The Longest Ride) this year. I upped my goal from 15 to 18 for the year which I should be able to reach, I'd be happy to break that even to 20 but I'm not sure how much time I'll have to read in the next 2 months.
  • I set a goal of 100 for the year, I'm at 75 for the year but I am 6 behind schedule according to goodreads.  I'm hopeful I can catch up but there is no shame in what I've read so far for this year.

Just that everyone here reads 75 - 200 books a year, I'm lucky to get 2 a month if I really try. I have to say joining this board really has improved my numbers. I know it's not a competition, I just wish I could read faster. I hope next year to hit 24 books for the year which I would feel good about, that's 2 a month. With that goal I'll hopefully also devote more time to reading when I can.
  • I am about 2 books behind my goal of 100 for the year. The Song of Fire & Ice series has made a dent in my progress. Well worth it though. :)

  • I am behind schedule.  We have just been so busy that I have been majorly slacking with my reading.  I changed my goal from 100 to 75 for the year.  I'm on 62 now.

  • I'm slacking a little this month but am still ahead of schedule. I set my goal a little low (80) and just finished number 77. My stretch goal is 100 but I don't think I'll quite make it.

It's not a competition!  Everyone has different circumstances and we're all here cause we love books, not to compete with each other.  I read a lot because I don't have kids and I work part time.  It's not a reflection on anyone else, just how my life allows for reading time.  Others don't have that luxury.  Or they do and they choose to pursue other interests.  As long as you can talk books, you belong here!
    Agreed.

At least half of my books come from audiobooks.  I probably would make 40 or so a year if I just read "paper"  Not everyone has a job that permits them to listen to a book and not fuck everything up. :)

  • I'm very happy I've found this group, it's nice to never have to hit a slump not knowing what to read. I will say you ladies motivate me, and it's nice to be around people who value reading, I haven't even tried the world of audiobooks yet. so I'll have to give that a try  I don't watch a lot of TV but I probably get 2 hours in on a good night, hopefully a goal of 2 books a month next year will help me better budget my time i.e. put down the remote and pick up a book.

On a side note, I know there's different reading challenges within the yearly goal challenge, when do those get posted or are they on going?
  • I'm on 67 of 75. I should make it but going back to work has put a dent in my reading time. Luckily my kids go to bed early. :)

I'm not sure there's any solidly going on.  There hasn't been a ton of interest this year.  Someone else may correct me.
