I think it was pretty obvious that the book was about human nature more than about aliens.  I read a blog post and they had a good point in how each reader might take a different theme away from the book.  What themes did you take away from the book, or what story line resonated with you the most?

    I was surprised by the heavy end of times/religion/crazies aspect.  It didn't bother me but I didn't know that's where the book was going to go.

    I was surprised by that too.  I think what's fearful is the panic that's associated by it.  I don't doubt a lot of people's sincerity of it, but the hysteria is frightening.

    I thought the religious hysteria was pretty on point.  I could see it happening.  I also liked the uncle, whose name I can't remember, who basically tried to cash in on his surviving niece and wound up either being driven crazy or being tormented into insanity depending on your interpretation of the ending.

    I agree with @julie37619 about Paul.  It's so easy to see how things can easily get distorted.

    And why was that little girl so much more creepy that the other 2?  WTF about Steven.  Those are the only parts I found creepy.
