Re: Happy Friday!

  • Still working on Six of Crows. #92

Listening to the second in the Morganville Vampire series #93

We're trick or treating tomorrow night with some friends.  Wes is so excited that it's making me excited.

  • Listening to Day Four by Sara Lenz, Reading The Bat by Jo Nesbo.  These are 51 and 52 for the year.  I'm feeling pretty accomplished because I wondered if I would ever get back to the point where I averaged at least a book a week, and here I am!

For Halloween, our friends are having a party all afternoon, ending with a mass trick or treat in their neighborhood.  I'm excited because it's going to be such a big group of friends, and like 10 kids.
  • I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and reading 'The Dream of the City' by Andres Vidal.  They are #84 and 85 for the year.

We are going trick or treating in MIL's neighborhood because our neighborhood is lame. We'll probably visit some friends who want to see J in her costume.

  • I am still slogging through Crown of Midnight. Not sure why it isn't holding my interest but I keep putting it down. I started reading The Moment of Letting Go by J.A. Redmerski yesterday. I have also been reading Fervent and UnPhiltered.

We always take DS into our little town to go trick-or-treating. SIL & her kiddos are coming with us again this year, so that should be fun. :)

  • Listening to Career of Evil and reading Destiny's Song.

I think Halloween is going to involve me taking niece and nephew to some party type thing and trick or treating afterward.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

How are you liking Six of Crows? I read that there were 6 different POVs. Is it very confusing?

I like it OK so far.  I think I'm slightly disappointed since it's been SO well received.  I still have some time for it to really pick up and it has over the last 50 pages a bit.

There are a lot of POVs, but I haven't found it confusing.  My problem is that the characters are really, really great, but they weren't doing a whole lot.  Lots and lots of background. The action is picking up a bit now so we'll see!

I'm about 80% through Library of Souls. When I finish that I've got Go Set a Watchman from the e-library that I really need to get cracking on. I also have three e-books I've bought via BookBub that I'm dying to read but can't until I finish the library holds because they seem to be coming down the pike almost too fast for me to keep up.

Oops. For Halloween DH's church hosts Trunk or Treat so I'll go help out at that. I'll be sporting my Agent Carter costume.

  • Hoping to make some progess on "Down the Rabbit Hole" by Holly Madison. It's a quick read, just haven't had time. It's ok so far but not as good as I thought it might be.

For Halloween DH and I are going to a concert tonight, tomorrow we have our nieces birthday party during the day, might hit some trick or treat while we're there. Going out together tomorrow night for the first time in a long time in costume. Hoping to hit a classy(ier) bar with a live band.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween or whatever you may celebrate. I'm psyched for the extra sleep but I feel bad for the parents with kids who have to adjust.
  • I also hope to squeeze a viewing of Hocus Pocus in this weekend...haven't had a chance to watch it once this whole fall.

I haven't either!  I usually watch it multiple times and just haven't got around to it.

  • Reading Night of the Gun by David Carr.  It's non-fiction and came highly recommended by an author I respect but I'm struggling.

Listening to Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown but my library hold list completely exploded and everything came in NOW so this may have to be put on the back burner as I own it.

    # 116 and 117 for the year.

We'll take DD trick-or-treating to a few neighbors tomorrow afternoon and to visit the grandparents.  Weather is supposed to be miserable.

    What concert?  (I'm nosy)
  • New Found Glory and Yellow Card. I'm so excited I've been a huge NFG fan since their early days. Poor DH isn't a fan but he's being a good sport so we can spend time together.
  • Oh! For a little pre-Halloween fun, DH and I are going to see Sweeney Todd at Opera Roanoke tonight!!
    image
  • Wow, NFG and Yellowcard is like a blast from the college past!  How fun!  I didn't realize either of those bands were still around.  Enjoy your night out!!

DH has seen Jason Mraz twice just to hang out with me, even though he's SO not a fan.
  • Reading Love Letters to the Dead, It is ok so far, kinda want it to end and also wondering where it is going...

We are doing trunk or treat tonight with the kiddos, tomorrow will be low key and just visiting a couple people so they can see the kids in their costumes.

I know I saw them in college and met the band after it was so cool hehe. My poor husband's seen John Mayer a couple of times too...I think I've lost my JM privelges now
  • I feel like a broken record. Same as last week, except I finally finished The Three. Queen of Shadows, Zero Sum Game, and Premature Evacuation are all in the rotation. I'm between 65 and 80% done with each of them so I should finish at least one, maybe two over the weekend.

We're taking the boys trick-or-treating tomorrow and my mom, my grandma and my in-laws are coming over. We might carve some pumpkins too. Should be fun.
