    2. $900 to savings, Shed/snowblower paid off, Made last car tax payment for lease (they were late in sending to us)

    3. We didn't as many kids as expected (only 20 while the street behind us got 60-80), so we have TONS of candy left...but our fire pit was nice to have still

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($173), Target ($50), Sunday Breakfast with DH at a restaurant! (girls were at DH's parents house- $27), and DH decided to return his winter coat ($171 back to the credit card).. mine is on back order until the end of November.

    2. Any progress towards goals? $1,000 went to savings this week

    3. How was your Halloween? It was really nice- the weather was awesome, my parents passed out candy for me so I could go with the girls and DH. They were both Princess Merida (from Brave) and my mom made the dresses- they looked great! They probably went to 15-20 houses before they were done for the night- they really liked to pass out candy (we went through all 9 bags- only had about 6 pieces or so left!) and see all of the costumes. It was a lot a fun!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good! $15 for food/coffee (H, kiddos and myself) after running errands on Friday. Saturday nothing, Sunday $7 pumpkin farm (we had a coupon for free family admission) so just the cost of some hot cider, treats. Lunch out $35 (the 4 of us) at a local pub, $40 Target, $60 groceries. All budgeted for.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
    Moved money in savings.

    3. How was your Halloween?
Chilly and rainy! We hung out at the fire station earlier in the day (chief and his spouse planned kids activities for families on the department). We stopped back after our short trick or treating run and spent more time at the station, watching the trick or treaters stop by.

    1. How MM was your weekend?

Pretty good. Nothing Friday, $19.50 to see The Martian on Saturday, $10 on Chinese take away Sunday for lunch. Our church was moving locations and we were already on the set-up crew, so we started setting up at 8:15, helped move the equipment after service, helped with figuring out the new set-up, labeling equipment, cleaning, and then tearing down until 4:30. It was a long day!

    2. Any progress towards goals?

None this week, but we're budgeted out for November and we're going to hit our monthly goal of at least $2500 to debt which is awesome.

    3. How was your Halloween?

Not at all halloweenish, but completely awesome. I sewed some curtains for my sister. She gave me her old coffee table as a swap. We did homemade pizza for dinner, then saw The Martian which was so good. I seriously miss seeing movies in the theater regularly. ETA: also spent $25 of my blow money buying DIY supplies at Lowe's to turn a vintage 5 gallon milk jug into a coat rack. Will probably assemble it next weekend. YAY!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  It was pretty good. Saturday--$175-groceries, clearance Halloween decorations, etc.  This was $15 over budget.  Sunday--$5-Jimmy Johns

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Nothing new--between pay periods

    3. How was your Halloween?  It was good.  I volunteered w/ the Jaycees in the afternoon for a Halloween parade downtown, then we went to H's coworkers house for a party that night.  We don't have trick or treaters in our neighborhood.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Nothing on Friday, $15 for Chic-fil-a on Saturday before trick-or-treating, and $7 for a mocha and pastry at Starbucks on Sunday.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

$450 towards credit card debt. Started at $7500 a few months ago, and now down to $1350.

    3. How was your Halloween?

It was fun! My one-year-old started getting a little crabby at the end because it was getting late, but both girls had a lot of fun trick-or-treating. FI even got some rum punch from a pirate themed house.

  • 1) Ours wasn't bad.  About $30 in gas to get to and from Atlanta, $67 at Costco yesterday, $8 at Publix, and we got me and H both some new boots for the winter - $150 for those at DSW, but it was budgeted.

    2) Sent $5400 to savings on Friday.  A lot of it was from an extra paycheck and birthday money, but we still did really well with a more relaxed budget.  I'm going to keep trying it for November and December.  Hopefully this can be our new normal.  It feels much better and it seems like we can still keep a high savings rate with it - win/win if we can keep that up.

    3) Halloween was good.  We were in Atlanta seeing family and also spent a couple hours at a party hosted by H's best friend and his wife.  They just got married, and it was good to see them post-wedding craziness.

  • 1. Fair. $40 for World Series weekend booze, $15 for lunch out on Saturday and $80 at Costco.

    2. About $2,400 to student loans. $1,000 toward our vacation later this month.

    3. The Royals won the World Series. That has pretty much trumped anything Halloween in Kansas City. They're even canceling school here tomorrow for the victory parade.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Pretty good for me.  Spent $80 at the grocery store which is $5 over my budget, but it did include some toiletry items and vitamins that I don't buy that often.  $10 of gas in my tank so I could wait til today to fill up at the Costco near my work, which is cheaper than the gas stations by my house.  $12 at the hockey game yesterday on some gravy fries (waste of money) and a giant soda so we could get this season's souvenir cup for H (stupid I know).

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Moved $100 from this paycheck to my savings.

    3. How was your Halloween?

It was fun!  Went to a party at a friend's house.  Some other friends of ours just moved back to town after a 2 year job assignment in Washington DC, so I got to meet their adorable little baby.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Friday night we spent $55 for sushi take out (budgeted). I also spent around $15 on amazon getting some hard to find in stores toiletries. Saturday we $29 at the grocery store picking up a couple of odds and ends we needed plus some Halloween candy.  Sunday we didn't spend anything which was nice.  I do my errands on Wednesdays when I'm off and it's quieter in stores so thats where the spending usually comes in.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Well, I wrapped up our october budget this weekend and we saved ~$400 for our e-fund which is now just general savings since we are at 6 months (plus another 221 towards a new car fund, 400 towards my IRA, and 135 towards the sinking fund for car/renters insurance).  I hadn't expected to save anything in october so that was a nice surprise.  My husband had a job change so we were short two paychecks in the transition, and then he took a pretty significant paycut for the next 6-8 months of training.  we are making just enough to keep living our current lifestyle without saving anything.  since it is temporary we don't want to make big lifestyle changes (plus,we want to live and enjoy him having a good schedule with weekends off) - but I'm trying to find ways to save a little without making a big impact.

    3. How was your Halloween?

We had maybe 4 groups of people totaling ~10 people.  Luckily we only spent $4 on candy and I sent the rest to my husbands work today.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad. $35 Friday night for sushi and $6 to rent a movie on iTunes. $60 at Target for toiletries/household goods and $25 at the grocery store on Saturday. Spent $50 on Amazon for a leaf blower on Sunday, couldn't pass up the amazing deal and the hours of raking it will save me and H.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Yes!! Found a buyer for H's old truck that he listed online last week so the final net cost of the new (for him) car we bought him came to $4500. So happy about this. H's old truck was a 1988, with less miles on it than my 2008(!) but he needed a car with working heat, defroster and all wheel drive for the winter. Also sent $2500 to savings after paying all the credit cards.

    3. How was your Halloween? It was a cozy night in. H and I handed out candy while watching Halloween movies then had sushi delivered which we ate while watching a semi-new movie we rented on iTunes.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

$458 spent on a new laptop because my old one died.  Not budgeted, big Meh.  I was waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but my H ran into an extra good deal that would rival most BF/CM deals anyway, so I pulled the trigger.

More bad news, my tenants had a problem with their Rush card and stiffed me on the rent.  They finally gave me $500 today...6 days late...and are giving me the other $600 on Nov. 15th.  18 days late.  Supposedly when the debacle will be resolved.  I checked it out and there is a big Rush card debacle though, from what I read, it should be resolved this week.  We'll see.

Then they told my H they are moving out on Dec. 31st.  They just moved in at the end of August, argh!  So this will be two months early for their 6-month lease.  All this is from my H, but I will talk to them sometime this week or next.  I'm okay with them leaving early, as long as they let me start showings TG weekend.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

After a lot of money shuffling with the whole non-payment of rent thing, I paid more than the minimums for my CC charges last month, but didn't pay them off like I usually do.

    3. How was your Halloween?

Lame :(!  It POURED rain Sat. and Sun.  In fact, over the news, they were encouraging everyone to do their trick or treating/candy giving on Friday night.  No one comes for Halloween down our street anyway, but we usually go over to our old neighborhood where ev1 hangs out on their porches and gives out candy.  Except it was too rainy to do that, so we just stayed home.

    1. How MM was your weekend?
    - It was good. i returned a bunch of stuff that I ended up not using to Kohls on Saturday, so after a target run, I still netted +40. And I spent $41 at Home Goods, but $25 was a gift card. Yesterday was my birthday, so I had free drinks and treats from a handful of loyalty programs, so that was fun. We did join Costco yesterday, so that was $110.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
    - It was a non-pay week, so no.

    3. How was your Halloween?
    - It was okay. My mom was in town for the weekend. The weather was super crappy, but we still had a ton of trick or treaters. H went to the bar with one of our friends; they had a better time than we did.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  I think it was good.  I spent $25 on an assortment of quality pumpkin beers and 75 on groceries.  That was a small overage.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  I convinced H to try the floating savings account for our recurring expenses and the first contributions will be made tomorrow.  I'm so excited for this plan!  I can't wait until the next time our car taxes come due and the money is just sitting there, not needing to be cash flowed.

    3. How was your Halloween?  Good!  We had a smaller turnout then last year, had fun carving some pretty cool pumpkins if I do say so myself, and watched Coraline.  It definitely kicked my baby craziness up a notch or two seeing all the cute kids in their costumes.

I was just telling my H last week, I don't know what it is about infants/toddlers/pets in costume...but I just go into cuteness overload.

So, so true.  I actually had a small MM win when I spent 15 minutes staring at a Jedi costume for my dog in Petco and did not make the purchase.

OMG same here. Every time I went on instagram it was just all adorable babies in the cutest outfit. Sometimes I think I won't want to start TTC when we're penciling it in right now (next november). But then you get something like adorable babies dressed like 80s workout video instructors and yeah...
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  Good.  We spent $12 for a late lunch on Sat (we walked there, the weather was great!) and about $10 on groceries.  We went out Wed, Thurs and Sat so Friday was a nice night in watching the Halloween episodes of family comedies on DVR.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  We continue to stay the course.  It was a good weekend of using leftovers.  I baked cookies earlier in the month for party that got cancelled.  The cookies went into the freezer and I was able to use them for the work potluck on Friday and took some to the Halloween party we went to on Saturday.  We also had a football watching party about a month ago that had an entire pack of leftover hot dog buns.  Those went into the freezer and were just fine toasted on the grill when we had hot dogs Sunday night.

Sunday we went for a walk.  My street never got the "free" Sunday papers so when we went down a street that had a ton laying around I took one.  No shame in my MM game, especially when there was a $5 coupon in there that I could use.

    3. How was your Halloween?  Great!  We went to a fun party on Wed, our usual party with friends on Saturday, and Friday I dressed up for work.  I almost won a prize in the work costume contest, but in a split vote I ended up losing to Elliot with ET costume and won nothing.  But I had fun dressing up for work and people liked my costume!

Glad I'm not the only one!  The one that threw me over the edge was our friend who dressed up her toddler daughter like a mini James Dean, complete with the '50s hair.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Friday we spent nothing, pizza night at home.  Saturday was Halloween, we grocery shopped and were $10 under budget so we were able to treat the kids to McDonalds after trick or treating and still stay in budget!  I also moved money around to cover the amount we were over budget on for October.  November is a new month, so here's hoping it goes well!

    2. Any progress towards goals? None, we really took a big step back in October.  November and December we will have a little extra money to play with so I'm hoping to start putting some money in savings again!

    3. How was your Halloween? Pretty great, we went to a mall trick or treating event with friends which was mobbed but fun.  Then we went to MIL's house for trick or treating in her neighborhood and the kids did really well.  Now we're just fighting the daily candy battle of making sure DS doesn't eat all of his candy!

Thanks for the fun memory, haha!  When I was little, my sister and I were allowed five pieces on Halloween night and one piece/day until it was gone after that.  Except, even as a little kid, I didn't have much of a sweet tooth.  My sister on the other hand would on a daily basis try to finagle more than her allotted one piece.

Every year, 1-2 months after Halloween and her candy was long gone and had half mine left, my mom would ask if it was okay to start letting her have 1 piece/day out of my bag.  I'll have to remind her what an awesome sister I was, lol.

You were a very good sister! I could totally see that happening, my DD isn't into candy and DS will try to sneak her leftovers if she only takes a bite and leaves it.
