Obviously I won't hold you to what you say. Right now I'm in the process of finding an attorney in our area that can help the appeal process I've been in regarding our drop in insurance that was never notified to us. We have since gotten back on insurance thank god, but for the time we were uninsured and didn't know it because they never told us we acquired 2k of med bills. I'm so done dealing with the appeal dept - 4 months and still no decision. I just want to sue them lol. really all I want is for them to just own up to the mistake - let us pay for that 1 month of insurance and get all of our medical bills paid. Do attorneys do stuff like that - is it worth their time? I would almost want a settlement that included money for all the time spent with this nightmare, headache, and money.

Certainly take whatever @hoffse's advice is over mine . But, for such a relatively small amount, I'd either take them to small claims court or maybe pay an attorney a fee to write a demand letter. But I just couldn't see where hiring an attorney to do more than that would be cost efficient.

This is good advice. It's fairly low-dollar, so a demand letter might be in order. I don't know that I would hire somebody to go through small claims with you. You could check out your local legal aid department, because they do a lot of work that is more low-dollar or see if a lawyer friend will take it pro bono.

But to answer your question, yes there are plaintiff lawyers that fight insurance companies all the time.

Do be aware that insurance companies DO fight, probably more so than most industries that end up on the defense side of things. They will spend many thousands of dollars fighting a relatively small claim because establishing precedent is very important to them.

Thanks. Unfortunately it's with the aca . They are the ones who dropped the ball. I talked to an attorney today who said my best bet was to call our senator and have her write to them

I should have clarified better. I meant hiring an attorney to write a demand letter, not to go with you to small claims court.
