Not MM-related: holiday movies?
It looks like there are some solid movies coming out for the holidays. I'm not usually one to go to the movies, but I might have to make an exception for the last Hunger Games movie and Spectre.
I would also kind of like to see The Big Short, but I might wait until it's out on Redbox or Amazon.
My husband is arranging a "dude date" for the new Star Wars movie.
Anybody else have a movie they are willing to pay to see?
Re: Not MM-related: holiday movies?
It's nice to have fellow people who are stingy about going to the movies around here!
H and I love seeing movies, but it's obviously not very MM so we usually only do it in winter when boating season is over. We've already bought our tickets for Star Wars and I will definitely plan to see the Hunger Games.
I'm not at all interested in Star Wars, but H is and really wants me to see it with him, so I'm going anyway. I think my sister and BIL and then his brother and fiancé are coming too. It should be a good time regardless.
I also can't wait for the newest Hunger Games! I'm hoping that I'll be able to go see it with one of my sisters who are also fans since its the holidays and otherwise we are across the country from each other.
I've seen a few good previews lately but I think that I'll wait until I can rent them on iTunes or watch them on HBOGo. There are a few newer movies that I haven't seen that just made it to HBOGo so I've been having fun bundling up at home with H and watching "new" movies as the cold sets in around here.
My H and I rarely go to the movies. We just prefer to wait and be comfy at home. But he was recently talking about wanting to see the Martian in a theatre. I suspect he will want to see the new Star Wars move in a theatre also.
REALLY not MM, but I have been wanting to check out a new theatre style. One of the local theatres jazzed themselves up about one year ago and now they have fancy, reclining leather seats with trays. There is also food and bar service with in-seat delivery. Sounds like a fun experience.
You may have mentioned this before and feel free not to answer if you aren't comfortable, do you live near Baltimore, MD? We just had one of those fancy theatres open near Baltimore a few months ago and I'm dying to go. Tickets aren't *that* much more than the regular movies and I think it would be pretty cool.
I remember someone else from this board is near Baltimore too, I can't remember who.
No, that isn't me. I live in NOLA.
I was actually pleasantly surprised at the prices. The tickets are a few dollars more, but not too bad. The food and drinks are a touch pricy, but not as bad as I had thought. The alcoholic beverages are actually fairly typical "nicer bar" prices. The gourmet sandwiches are about $15 and the apps are around $10-$11. They also have three different flavors of popcorn to choose from. Regular ($5), parmesan with truffle oil ($7.50), and chocolate peanut butter ($7).
So if I think of it more as a date night with dinner and a movie...because it is...it "feels" better than to say we spent $80-$100 at the movies, lol.
Hunger games.
We might take the kids to see the Good Dinosaur.
We go to movie previews for free all the time so it is even more rare for us to pay for a movie (we could have actually seen Spectre for free Wednesday night at a preview). However, friends asked us to go to Spectre tomorrow so we will pay for that. Not really though because BIL gave me Fandango gift cards a couple of years ago and we are finally using those.
We would pay for Star Wars tickets for when we are in FL for Christmas, but BIL already bought them for all of us.
Adding two to my list after seeing trailers this week... I would LOVE to see Spotlight and I also think Brooklyn looks good.
