Hoopla

Do any of your libraries have this? It's one reason I've neglected Overdrive. It's basically Overdrive but streaming? And one collection for every library? So if your library has Hoopla, you have the same books every other library has. Individual libraries don't curate it. And there's never wait time on books, but you can only check out ten items a month. They've got most audiobooks, some ebooks, tons of comics and graphic novels, movies, and some tv. I'm obsessed with it right now because I can listen without taking up storage space on my phone.

I use it. It's had a handful of audiobooks I wanted so that's good but I don't like how you can't see what chapter your on or how far you are into the book (percentage wise). Wish they would update that.

One of my book club friends uses it occasionally and hates it for that reason. I guess because I'm in the car most of the time and have to stop when I get to work regardless of where I'm at, chapter doesn't matter much? I do make sure to bookmark each time I stop because it has lost my place before.

It looks like the Boston Public Library does that this service. So what's the difference? That if I had wifi (or data if I choose to) I could just stream it instead of downloading it my device? I have ample storage so that's not a concern for me. What's the added benefit? Is it more beneficial for movies and music?

I don't care about the movie aspect but I like that some audiobooks are available that my library/Overdrive does not have.

Also, there are no holds.

Oh and for the music...I'm a music nut and they often have new releases that you can stream (phone or computer) which is awesome.

Most of the movies are indies, but they've got some good documentaries. As far as audiobooks, the storage is the biggest draw for me because my storage is always low. But they also have a better selection than my library's Overdrive and there are no holds, so you never have to wait.
