Best Diet for PCOS ?

So, just last summer i was diagnosed with having PCOS, at the age of 29. Very disappointed it took this long for it to be diagnosed. But now I'm trying to
decide on a diet plan that will actually show me results(I'm at my highest weight and getting more and more depressed). All suggestions are welcome ! I have had success with the atkins diet, however it seems like just a temporary thing, as its almost impossible to stay on that diet long-term.

Re: Best Diet for PCOS ?

  • Hey! I'm 33 and have PCOS. I've struggled my entire life with staying in shape and it wasn't until after I had my second daughter (who is now 10 months old) that I was introduced to the 21 day fix program. I've completed 3 rounds and it's completely changed the way I eat (and look). It's awesome that all of the workouts are 30 minutes or less and are extremely effective, but the eating portion is what made a HUGE difference for me. I also replace breakfast with a smoothie each morning using Shakeology. I originally purchsed the two together as a challenge pack from my then coach, and I still drink it daily. However, the 21 day fix workout/eating program is sold by itself and is worth its weight in gold.

  • Look into Le-Vel thrive. It's wonderful. Not a quick fix and it's a whole lifestyle system with only 3 easy steps. Vitamins/capsules, shake mix and then a DFT patch. It helps to improve everything from energy levels, sleep, body aches, and weight management. I really do love it since it's so easy and I'm able to still eat food and teach myself healthy good choices. The energy you receive gives you amazing feeling so your motivated to be more active and then you also lose weight. Please don't hesitate to ask me questions. After 2 kids I love this.
  • Thanks for the suggestions girls ! I just started doing a low-carb diet for the time being, but definitely will be looking into the programs mentioned.

Low carb and controlling your blood sugar can help a lot. My friend is trying Ocotea essential oil for her PCOS because of it's ability to assist with glucose levels.
  • I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 14 (I'm 26 now). I tried a few things to help lose weight, but what has worked for me to some degree just this last year was to switch out some of my animal protein for plant protein. My husband and I started by switching two meat-containing dinners for two vegetarian dinners per week. Now we eat maybe two meat dinners per week and the rest are vegetarian. We eat a lot of beans and lentils, and tons of veggies. Combined with moderate exercise, I've lost 20 pounds in about 6 months without *really* trying.
It's not a huge amount of weight, I know, but for someone struggling with PCOS, it was a nice confidence boost.
