NMR - Republican Debates, 11-10

Not money related. Posting here because it's the busiest board.

Did you guys watch the Republican debate tonight? Thoughts?

I get confused the more I hear the candidates speak. I like most of the Republican candidates. Still TOO many! I can't wait to know who the nominee and vp nominee will be.

I did watch it and I have a few that are on the top of my list but too hard to narrow down this early. It's so hard to trust what any of them say....usually I don't pay attention to any of this stuff, but Trump kinda sucked me in this year....probably for the entertainment factor..I can't tell if he's just the class clown or what lol.

I do know I can't stand Hilary and her crazy a$$ controvertial family...they just need to get out of town..the same with Bush, I've seen about enough of them too...time for a fresh, honest face

Nope. This Democrat worked a 12 hour day yesterday and while I could have used the comedic relief, I opted instead for an early bed time. #teamHillary

  • I missed it to go out with friends.  Another Democrat feeling the Bern here, but I do like to watch the Republican debates when I can.  I try to stay informed about the various candidates so I can speak knowledgably when I get pulled into conversation about them, and I generally find politics interesting.

I was at yoga but did catch a little bit because DH had it on.  Even at this point I don't know if I will vote D or R, but I try and keep an open mind and not be mean to either side.  Its just so shocking to me that carson and trump are still the front runners when I think Rubio and Fiorina should be above them.  I'm not going to get serious about it until they weed most out.  God, what if Trump is the nominee - I just can't handle it and would vote D.  One thing for sure - because of all these debates the Rs will be having it will prepare them really well for debates once its just the 2 nominees from both parties.

  • I just couldn't get over the fact that ted cruz said he would let the banks fail - then is it Kaisch (?) said the would pick the winners and losers of bank customers and then there was booing in the audience.  Not interested in either of those guys.

  • I'm not a republican but usually try to catch the debates.  Pretty much forgot about it this time, plus, hockey was on.  We only caught the closing statements.

I still don't get how anybody takes Trump seriously.  He just panders to what people want to hear.  Did you see he's now jumping on the "Let's boycott Starbucks because of their plain cups" bandwagon?  It's so ridiculous.

H and I are not 100% on the same page about politics...but we have both agreed that we would seriously consider a move to Canada if Trump is the next president. At the moment I disagree so strongly with all the R candidates stance on women's health that I can't seriously consider supporting any of them.
That becomes my problem. Even though I can't agree completely with any democratic candidate, I can't bring myself to vote R because of womens health (plus gay rights issues, it doesn't effect me personally but effects people close to me and I can't handle feeling like I vote against those people who matter to me).
Exactly it.  Frankly, I'm on the more conservative side when it comes to financial stuff.  But the social stuff... I cannot and will not vote for someone who is so completely the opposite of what I believe is right for women, gay rights and how immigrants are treated.

And that is also why I can never discuss politics with my mother.  She also votes on social issues, only hers are quite opposite of mine... and doesn't understand that religious views have no place in government policy.

I actually Googled Canadian immigration when he shot up in the polls the first time. Looks like it's pretty tricky so hopefully it won't come to that.

Completely agree, I can't support a candidate who would lobby against the loving same-sex families and couples in my life. Also can't support anyone who denies climate change science. I have from time to time supported fiscally conservative Republicans at the state level, however. MA/RI Republicans are very different from the national party.

agreed, NE republicans, as a whole, are different. I was registered republican before because when I registered at 18 in my hometown, it was far more important to have a say in the local republican primary than the general election since the republican candidate won 95% of the time. Now that I don't live there, and vote in NH I'm now officially a democrat.
