PW - Update

Let's see, what is new?  Paul's schedule changed starting this week.  Apparently his company rolled out a mandatory 3rd shift addition to all offices that have more than 3 people.  It's in an effort to cut back on overtime.  So the plan was/is to have a guy work 3rd shift for a quarter of the year (3 months) and then they will rotate.  At first I was super bummed about it.  But it might actually be nice.  The shift is from 4pm-midnight and he gets to work from home instead of driving to the office.  So that saves him time and gas on commuting.  Plus he's been wanting to work from home.  This way he stays home unless he gets a call to go out.  Similar to being on call.  They will still have their on call rotation, so every 5th week he will also be on call from midnight-8am and on the weekend.  But most of their calls when they are on call can and were handled prior to midnight.  So the downside - less overtime when on call which means less pay.  Plus side is he is working from home and also home during the day.  His work just found out about it last week and Paul volunteered to go first.  He started the new shift today.  It was really nice to be able to leave Lily home with him while I had my doctor's appointment.

Lily has been sick this weekend. Slight temp, just wanting to lay around and not really eating.  She's super clingy.  I feel bad for her.  But at the same time I'm super thankful it's just this and no throwing up.  (knock on wood) She's actually playing today but still warm and not eating a lot.  We'll see how tomorrow goes.

My doctor appointments have been going well. 3 appointments ago I was measuring about 4 weeks ahead.  At each appointment I keep getting closer in measurement to where I should be.  I'm not 100% in love with my doctor.  I hadn't really seen her much before being pregnant and I'm not really impressed now. I'm 30 weeks so not going to change my doctor at this point.

Otherwise it's life as normal.  My MIL is coming to visit this weekend so I really hope Lily is over whatever is bothering her and that none of us get it.

I am glad Paul is able to work at home.I'm sorry you don't like your doctor, but yay for being 30 weeks and measuring closer to where you should be. I hope Lily starts feeling better soon!

  • That sounds like a great thing for him. I'm glad it's working out.

I feel you on the doctor thing. I love the doctors in my practice, but the nurses seem either understaffed or don't want to work. They already made me miss a test because they sent me to the wrong place.

  • 30 weeks already!  Time really flies.
  • Sorry about you not liking your doctor. At least you only have 10 more weeks with them. When is the due date again??

  • I second on feeling ya about the doctor. The nurses are alright but I always get the mean ones. Ugh except I no longer like my original doctor, the one I started seeing in Feb. sadly, he's usually the only one I can get in to.

  • Due date is January 16th.  I'm just not in love with my doctor.  I don't hate her.  I just feel like a number to her when I'm there.  Like get in, get out, ect.  Normally I really like short appointments but sometimes I feel rushed.  And she's gone so much.  I keep having to change days and times of my visits because she's out so much.  I don't even get to see her for my next two appointments as she's out of the office both weeks.  I have to see some of the other doctors.  At this point, I'm happy to see some of the other doctors.  I might find I like one of them better.  It makes me wonder if she will be around to deliver for me - one of the main reasons I picked her was that she delivered.

And one of my friends apparently goes to the same office.  She has a different doctor but while pregnant ended up seeing my doctor for one of her appointments.  They had testing her for preeclampsia and my doctor told her that she didn't have it.  At her next appointment, her regular doctor told her that she did and the other doctor had read the results incorrectly.  That story didn't really inspire a lot of confidence in my doctor for me.

  • I totally understand. Mine is the same way. Like get in, hear baby's heartbeat, any questions, okay bye. I feel like he never takes two minutes to read my chart before he comes in so he always gets me confused with other people. We have this program called My Health where you can get your test results quicker, schedule appointments if needed and message the doctors. Usually it's the nurses that answer those messages, which is no big deal. But he never communicates with his nurses so he never knows what's going on. At one appointment, he said "oh, you had a miscarriage in February." I understand he sees a lot of people, at two offices. But how hard is it to take a minute or two to read my chart so you know who I am?

It just makes me sad because when I first saw this doctor in February, he was amazing. I, and Tyler, much prefer the doctor who did my d and c and my first appointment. When I was in recovery, he spent a half hour talking to Tyler in the waiting room. That means a lot. But because he's so good, it's hard for me to get in to seeing him. I"m also trying to at least meet the other doctors in the office since any one of them can be the one who delivers Elias. It's whoever is on call when I go into labor.

Phew. Sorry this turned into a doctor rant on my end. Just is so frustrating lol.

  • I have the problem that the nurses don't want to listen to me. The doctors are wonderful, once I get through to them.
