Since You've Been Gone- it is ok so far. I am only a quarter of the way through. I need it to pick up a little.

Just got The Nightingale from Overdrive.

Also will be picking up November 9 and Tricky Twenty-Two tonight on the way home.

ETA: Cheesy Broccoli and Rice is my favorite non traditional Thanksgiving food.

  • I have to finish "The Beginning of Everything", I think I only have 50 pages left

I just got "Missoula" on Overdrive so I'm going to dive into that (so excited I've been waiting a few months)

I'll try to get to some of "Since You've Been Gone" if I have time.

I guess I'm boring, don't really do any non-traditional Thanksgiving foods and I'm not a big fan of hot turkey sandwiches after, but I can see the value.
  • I just finished Emerge by S.E. Hall. I don't think I am going to continue reading the series though. I want to start Since You've Been Gone tonight though. :)

Most of what I like is traditional Turkey Day food. Homemade Mac & Cheese is my favorite part.

  • Listening to Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carrianger.

Reading Everything She Forgot by Lisa Ballantyne.

    #s 127 & 128 for the year.

Bonus: My grandma's cole slaw (do other people eat cole slaw on Thanksgiving???).  DH took over making it now that my grandma is gone.  <3

  • I'm getting ready to start Six of Crows. I can't wait! It was an anniversary gift from my H.

My grandmother had two gooseberry bushes, and we always have had gooseberry salad (a jello dish) for Thanksgiving. But she's been gone for several years now, and the gooseberries ran out last year, so there'll be no gooseberry salad for Thanksgiving this year for the first time.

  • I'm still reading The Secret Keeper (but I'm almost done!) and listening to The Boston Girl.

TSK is great.  I wasn't expecting all the drama and intrigue, but I love it.  The Boston Girl, I'm still up in the air.  I love Addie, and I wish she was a real lady I could sit and have tea with, but the book is just not very exciting.  Maybe I'm comparing it to TSK or something.  So we'll see about this one.

I feel like we only eat traditional thanksgiving foods on thanksgiving.  They're traditional to me, anyway.  Broccoli casserole?  Pink cranberry jello mold?  I love that stuff.  But candied sweet potatoes are my absolute favorite part of the meal.

I started & finished The Fill-In Boyfriend last night.  I really enjoyed it.  Going to start First & Then tonight.  It will be number 67 for the year, still behind.

I'm not big on Thanksgiving foods so I would have to say lasagna.

  • Still reading what I was reading last week because I haven't had much time, plus I have a bunch of lines to learn.

I make an onion-herb bread that was always my grandmother's favorite at Thanksgiving. It is traditional to my family but not necessarily in the grand scheme of things. And I make my green bean casserole completely from scratch. No cream of this or can of that. Fresh beans, fresh mushrooms, fresh cream, fresh onions.  Mmmm...thanks, Alton Brown!

  • I'm still reading "Degrees of Inequality" and just started "The Christmas Calamity".

I don't think we have anything non-traditional for Thanksgiving (at least my family doesn't).

I might actually like your version!
  • I'm finishing up listening to Ignite Me the final in the Shatter Me series.  #102

I'm reading Amy and Rogers Epic detour.  It just started so I don't have any opinions yet. #103.

I completed my challenge a few days ago!

I don't have any nontraditional food I like at Thanksgiving, but I can't stand sweet potato anything. If it has marshmallows or honey or anything candied on it I want to barf.  My SIL insists on bringing it every year.  The only way to eat a sweet potato is fried with salt.

  • I'm reading Wolf By Wolf, which came in my Uppercase Box this month. I'm actually really enjoying it!

Non traditional food: My Cuban family can't eat without there being rice and black beans, so  those things are ALWAYS on our Thanksgiving table. :) And usually fried plantains, too. Yummy!

    Mmmm fried plantains....

That green been casserole sounds awesome too. I don't like mushrooms so I subsitute with cream of broc or chicken and it just doesn't taste the same.

  • Fried plantains!  There used to be a great Cuban restaurant near my work and it closed about a year ago.  I miss it SO MUCH.
