I might...very remotely might...have been the one who let George Takei know about the dumbass ridiculous things that Roanoke mayor David Bowers said equating the perceived need to reject Syrian refugees in the area to the need for internment camps during WWII...might...and Takei's response has gone viral.

It's silly but I feel a little like a vigilante badass for it and I probably wasn't the only one who shared Bowers' remarks to him.

I'm trying so hard not to get frustrated since I was there not too long ago, but my close friends and sister all have young kids and I can't consistently make plans with any of them. I just canceled lunch plans with my sister because she's been texting me all morning about her daughters lack of naps and all the homework she has to do. This is text speak for my sister wanting to cancel but refusing to and hoping I suggest it.

And I get it. I totally do. I've been there. But I'm still a little butt hurt about it. I'm not mad at her/them, just the situation. I was really looking forward to my lunch date with her.

I'm mailing the paperwork today for Tatum to start kindergarten next year. She misses the age cutoff by 2 weeks, so we have to go through this whole waiver process. So I file the forms now and we won't know the school department's decision until July. And even then, it's conditioned on there being space in the class, and even then, its conditioned on a 6 week probation period, during which they can decide at any time that it's not working out and boot her. Up to 6 weeks into the school year! Gah. fingers crossed!

My hair is totally neon bright lime green and teal and regular green, and yes, it was on purpose, and I give no fucks. People just say things like, "Wow, what made you do THAT?" And I say, "So I could answer asinine questions about what I choose to do to my own body."

SnShe322 I completely understand, just say you can't go. I have a girlfriend who will only make plans if they're close to her, on her time, but she says "whatever's in the middle for everyone" so it's not her idea.

SusieBW that so sucks. Do they just assume 6 weeks after the school year starts you can find alternate child care if things don't work out? Ugh.

My random is that I don't like group messaging on facebook or text. I'm in a group message with my BIL's and SIL trying to make plans and it's just a mess. People posting random gifs, others can't commit to anything. Just loop me in on the final plan and I'll say if I can go or not.

I want my hair purple, but I feel like that won't go over so well in court. Or like the old white guy judges won't take me seriously, anyway. I'm settling for a dark auburn with purple highlights, which is apparently all the rage right now, because I've seen 6 people with that color hair since I decided to do it. I cannot wait to get it done.

I'm super fortunate that my job has (so far) been totally ok with my crazy hair. It's like an addiction though. Or like getting a tattoo. Once you do it once, you just want to do it again, and go bigger and more bold!

How about those clip in extensions? That way you could take them out for work.

I am a little concerned about the maintenance. I'm also lazy, but I've also gotten kind of cheap about my hair. So this will be a splurge and then we'll see what happens.

I did that a couple years ago and loved it. I want galaxy hair but I need to figure how to make it work for a corporate environment.

I saw a gif yesterday of a woman whose hair was her natural dark brown/black on top but when she brushed it aside it was a technicolor dream. It was fantabulous!!! I can't find the photo now, of course.

I have another random for today. I'm doing a one act play here locally and my part was just upgraded to one of the two leads!!

Except that when I finally called to make the appointment with my hairdresser yesterday, I got the feeling he was not into what I want to do. I said "dark auburn with purple highlights" and he said well, no, you don't want purple, just a nice, brighter kind of auburn, right? No. Purple.

His clients are mostly old ladies. I think it might be time to switch anyway. I've been going there for 10 years. A friend pointed out that he might not even have the right colors on hand to do what I want. So I think I'm going to make an appointment somewhere else and cancel this one.

But I HATE breaking up with hairdressers!

It's like breaking up with someone you've been dating a reeeeeally long time. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my hairdresser. He is completely fabulous, and has become a good friend. He's also talented AF. I don't ever tell him what to do to my hair. He dreams it up, and most of the time, I don't have a clue what he's doing until he's done. He goes to the beauty supply store, and picks out colors just for me. It's a ton of fun, and people have just started expecting me to have crazy hair.
