WWYD?

Just curious what would you do in this situation.  On Cyber Monday I ordered a rock n' play from Target to pick up at the store.  With their awesome deals and the giftcard I had from my baby shower, I only had to pay $2.50 out of my own pocket for it.  (I was so excited).  It was ready within a few hours and I went and picked it up Monday afternoon.  The customer service was decently busy with several people picking up online orders.  I got an email from Target on Wednesday saying I had until Friday to pick up my item or it would be put back on the shelf.  They don't charge you until you pick it up.  So apparently when I picked it up on Monday they didn't update their system that I had.

I can't say that for a moment I considered letting it go.  Hey free item from Target for me.  But after about 60 seconds of thinking that I felt horribly guilty for thinking that. When I told P about the email he was saying I shouldn't say anything and see what they did.  Basically go for the free item.  So what would you have done?

For the record I stopped by the store on Friday and let customer service know that I had already picked it up on Monday.  They updated their system.  The customer service person kept telling me thank you for being honest.  So I guess my assumption of getting the item for free was correct.  If I hadn't told them, they wouldn't have charged the gift card or my card and I would have gotten a free rock n' play.

  • I will say that I'm sure other people wouldn't have said anything.  And technically it would have been Target's fault for not processing my pick up when I was there.  And by the customer service person's reaction, I'm guessing most people don't say anything.

  • I would be tempted for sure, but my guilt would have been too strong.

  • I would have considered it and then probably called the store.
