Not MM-related: Would you out yourself?

I'm about to start my tax-exempt class tonight. My favorite professor from law school is teaching it! I've been so excited. I took three classes from her in law school, and tax-exempt entities is one of my primary practice areas and her main research area.

I haven't told her I'm in the class. It's a small class, and even with anonymous grading she would probably know which exam was mine if I told her I was in it.

Would you out yourself? Or wait until the class is over?

Yes to both, but I got married after law school. Granted, my name didn't change very much, but it's still different than how she might remember me...

Also, it's a virtual class, but there aren't cameras for the students, so she won't see me.

Is there a chance she'd recognize you?

I don't see the harm in letting her know you took 3 classes from her and you really enjoyed them.... a few compliments can't hurt

Yeah she's the entire reason I went into the practice I'm in. We communicated a bit after law school, but eventually lost touch when my firm went under, and I was dealing with all of that (my fault).

Unless staying unknown is a benefit I would probably let her know you were taking her class. I can't imagine it would hurt anything and it might be a benefit. If nothing else you can rekindle your professional relationship.
