Toddler Tantrums

Lily has definitely been hitting the tantrum phase in these past few months. Today was her worst yet and it was in Target while grocery shopping. Yep, I was the parent with the screaming kid today. I was proud of how I handled it even though it made me want to cry (darn hormones).

Guessing age three is going to be FUN! Haha.

Re: Toddler Tantrums

  • Sorry about the rough time in Target. Abby definitely had me upset after I tried to put her to sleep for her nap for over an hour and she just wouldn't go down. She was so super cranky after being up for hours in the middle of the night. I knew she needed sleep. I've seen and heard the term threenager used before. Maybe that is what is happening to them.

  • Liliana has started to say no to the clothes I pick out for her. She even fights me on the socks I want her to wear! She is very stubborn!

Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.

  • Caden has done that a time or two. It's just so much fun! He hates sitting in the carts but when it's just me and kids he doesn't have a choice. I just ignore him and carry on. He also gets super pickey about clothes. I give him choices and that seems to help some.

I hate to break that bad news but it's only going to get more fun when baby 2 arrives.

  • I'm there too and he's only 14 months. :(

  • I let her pick out her clothes or at least give her choices to pick from. Definitely a threenager attitude over here.  With how sassy she is and the not listening.

Amity - I know, that's something I keep thinking about.  Having the second one will bring out a few more tantrums from the first one I'm sure.  ***reasons I don't want a third***

  • Look into 123 magic. :)

I teach it for work and I have used it in my classroom.
  • We had a humdinger of a tantrum today. Caden wasn't listening to me or his teacher at school. He wasn't staying in timeout so I told him we would leave. Oh lordy he wailed and when we got out to the parking lot he threw himself on the ground (in the rain while I was holding Emerson). It was so.much.fun.

  • ^sounds similar to what happened with Lily.  It started with not listening and the screaming started when I said she would lose a privilege if she didn't start listening. And it just spiraled from there.

It's kind of funny when she throws a fit/tantrum while contradicting herself. At least it's funny in hindsight.  Like when she doesn't want chicken for lunch but then throws a tantrum because she didn't get chicken for lunch.
