Stupid library vent

This is a serious FWP. Normally I love my local library but I am so mad at them right now. For several years they have been part of the statewide elibrary so I have had access to tons of ebooks through that. There was an awesome selection and I hardly had to wait to get a book. Yesterday my local library sent out an email saying that as of today they are launching their own elibrary and we won't have access to the state one. I just looked to see what they had and the selection is terrible and I lost all of my holds from the old system. It's so frustrating; I don't understand why they would trade a great system for something mediocre.

I'm seriously considering trying to get a library card in a neighboring town so I can still access the state's elibrary.

I was going to suggest that, too. The Roanoke library near where I work (I live the next county down) allows anyone with a valid Virginia address to have a library card, so I'm forever playing my holds for Roanoke and Franklin Counties off one another in the hopes of getting ebooks quicker.

Even though my town is part of the Central Mass library system, I can register for an Ecard with the Boston Public library. Their selection is SO much better. Would you be able to do the same?

I'm not sure; I'm going to have to do some researching.

I have 3 library cards -- where I work, where I live, the city where my kid goes to school (I was a chaperone for a field trip and it either didn't get noticed that I don't live in the city or they didn't care).
