Weekend reading, holiday weekend edition

What did you start/ignore/make progress on during the (for some) long holiday weekend?

Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

Re: Weekend reading, holiday weekend edition

  • I'm still in reread mode and still listening to the LOTR radio play. I listened to that with DH while we ran errands. Some of the pronunciations are weird for characters (Legolas is pronounced Luh-GO-lus and Saruman is pronounced Suh-RU-min which makes me think of noodles), but it's cute anyhow.

Our Saturday night was awesome because we went to see the local Guns 'n' Hoses Charity Hockey Game, and I miss me some hockey like whoa! We're getting a SPHL team next season, but it's been far too long since I've been to a game. The Hoses creamed the Guns but it was still good fun.

  • I read the whole The Summer I Turned Pretty series.  I loved it.  So far I have really enjoyed all of the books I've ready by Jenny Han.  I think I may even like her better than Stephanie Perkins.

  • I finished the Nightingale (holy cow it's been a while since I had a good cry!) and I started "Dark Witch"

I caught up on a bit of knitting. Showtime had a free preview so I binged "the Affair", unfortunately/fortunately that chewed up a lot of time yesterday so I didn't get much done.
  • I finished 'The Romanov Sisters' and 'Sweet Talk'.  I also did a bunch of reading for the class I'm taking.

  • We went away on a ski trip to Vermont with some friends so I barely had time to read.  My library audiobook expired on overdrive for Life After Life before I finished so I had to request that again and I have one person ahead of me.

I'm hoping to finish at least two books this week.  I've only finished one so far this year.
  • I finished my listen of HP#7 and that's about it.  I did shelve the books I got over Christmas and I'm officially out of book space.  I've been waiting for this day because maybe DH will stfu about getting rid of our second bookshelf.

  • I totally neglected most reading in favor of binge-watching that British baking show on Netflix.  I did read a few stories from Bazaar of Bad Dreams and bit in Better Than Before.

I neglected all reading.  I started Four Seconds to Lose today.

We had a fun, busy long weekend.  It was my dd's bday so lots of celebrating & eating out.

  • I finished reading The Westing Game and started Station Eleven.

I spent Saturday sick in bed.  Sunday we went to LL Bean and exchanged out a coat and pair of shoes each for me and DH.  I adore my new down coat.  They don't make my old one anymore, so I upgraded.  Just in time for the 13 degree morning I had today, too!  Monday, I took the kids to a play date to hang out with some of my friends.
  • I finished Landline by RR and Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover.  I love Colleen Hoover, but this one just didn't do it for me.  The whole story seemed off and too fake, like there were too many issues.  Landline was amazing.
