Complete aw- house sold today!!!!
I feel like I've just had a huge weight lifted. Not because the house was a huge burden or anything (although it is nice to no longer have the drain on our finances) but just because of the circumstances it took to finally get here.
Approximately 5.5 years from when we first listed it for sale, 4 contracts, 2 renters and countess headaches and worries, we finally sold my first house!!!! This was a good investment long run- we rented it for 4 years, but no longer wanted the hassle, and the house about doubled in value since I bought it. With the $ we got today, we are actually about $400 short of paying off the mortgage on the house we live in currently. I need to get with the mortgage company tomorrow to get our exact payoff amount, but within the week we should be debt free!!!!!
Dh and I are hoping that since we now have some extra $ to invest, we may actually reach his goal of early retirement in 20 years (age 60).

I've followed your trials and tribulations on this house and am so glad the closing finally went through for you all.
And how amazing that now you can pay off your current house! Sweet!
