Re: Happy Friday! What are you reading?

  • I'm reading 'The Paris Architect' and 'The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace'.  I am loving 'The Paris Architect' (it is so good) and am enjoying the other one.  They are numbers 6 and 7 for the year.

  • I'm STILL listening to Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult.  I should finish this weekend, I think.  It's really good.

I'm reading Burned by Ellen Hopkins.  I love her and it's been quite a while since I read any of her stuff, so this feels like a throwback book for me.

  • "Before I Fall" just came up on my Overdrive hold. Only about 15 pages in so I hope to get some time to read this weekend, looks like a quick read.

Listening to The Substitute by Denise Grover Swank at @julie37619 's rec.  She hasn't let me down yet.  :)  It's mindless which is good.

Reading The Lake House by Kate Morton.  I haven't read her books before and I'm struggling with the wordiness and ridiculous detail.

    #s 17 and 18.

  • I just finished The Girl on the Train. I figured the mystery out too early so it was a disappointment. I'm about to start Lena Dunham's book.

  • I'm listening to Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. It makes me thankful I'm not single.

I'm reading Out of Easy by Ruta Septys.

#9 and 10 for the year

I felt the exact same way about Modern Romance!
And I loved Out of the Easy.

I loved Between Shades of Gray and was excited when I realized she wrote 2 other books. I have her newest release in my hold queue at the library.

I ultimately liked The Lake House but it was a real struggle to get through.  I almost quit about a dozen times and only really got into it once I was almost done.

  • Started and finished November 9 last night. Her books aren't the best but they sure are addicting. Next up is the newish Phillipa Gregory book.

  • It's not Friday anymore, but I'll post anyway. :)

I just finished Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe and There Are No Children Here. Both were great. I feel bad for not reading FGT earlier, but I figured I loved the movie so much, I already knew the story. The book is so much better! These were only 3 and 4 for me for the year. Good for me so far :)
  • I know it's late...

I just started Terrier by Tamora Pierce. I think it's #7 for the year.

I struggled through the beginning of The Lake House as well, but I ultimately ended up really liking it. Hopefully it picks up for you too!

  • I'm currently reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I read The Lake House by her earlier this year and ended up liking it. This one is better so far. I think it's #6 for the year.
