Okay, so I came across this in a GR email.  For those who don't know, I am huge Calvin & Hobbes fan.  Just taking a glimpse at the book below gets my panties in a wad. The main characters are Calvin something or other and Ethan Hobbs, plus the tiger reference in the title irritates me. Plus Hobbs is a tiger therian (I have no idea what a therian is) who has selective mutism, but can communicate with Calvin. For those who don't know anything about the actual comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, Calvin is a little boy with a stuffed tiger/imaginary friend. I suppose the book could be great, but I could never get past the names & similarities to the actual Calvin & Hobbes.

  • Calvin being a blonde isn't helping either!

  • I detest all things that are spun off of C&H, because I understood those things to have been a big part of the reason the comic ended.  I always heard that Bill Watterson was all set with seeing the stupid stickers of Calvin peeing on a Yankees logo or whatever, and the C&H t-shirts and everything else that was out there unlicensed, from which other people were profiting from his work in ways of which he did not approve.  So he quit drawing it.  And that was a sad, sad day.

    Still my favorite:

Ditto. I get so pissy when I see those window decals with Calvin peeing on something. I bet half the people who have them don't even know who Calvin is.

  • My Dad adored Calvin & Hobbes when I was growing up and me in turn.  Every birthday I looked to see if there was a new one out to get him.  For some reason I thought it was the world's best gift or something!

I've always wanted the big complete set, and I've been waiting years and years for DH to get it for me.

I read somewhere that Bill Watterson never licensed anything C&H, to anyone.  So any C&H products out there, with the obvious exception of the books he published, are without his approval.  And that stuff used to be EVERYWHERE.
