I'm very excited. VERY excited. That NOLA is getting a Dave and Buster's. A nearby city is getting a Trader Joe's. Even more excited about that one. So I was googling when I can expect doors to open. For TJ's, it's not until the end of summer...which means it will probably be the end of fall .
I couldn't find that info for D&B...but I pass by the site every day. Work has been moving steadily, pylons have already been driven in. But I did come across an architectural rendering. I was floored, FLOORED, at how real it looks. Even though it said "rendering", I had to look at the pic carefully to verify I wasn't misunderstanding and it was actually a D&B, already built, but somewhere else.
I attached it. Everything in the background exists and looks like that, but the D&B in the forefront does not exist. At all. It's currently an empty lot with a bunch of pylons, steel girders, and construction wrap sign around the whole lot. I'll be curious if those of you more tech savvy than me will see obvious signs the photo isn't real.
Re: Not MM - Wow, you sure can't trust a photo
There are things wrong with it, but it gets the point across and most people won't notice the errors unless they look closely. Those gray car blobs next to the building also look very small and off scale. And the girl in the forefront has a see-through head.
My H, before he looked at it, guessed that the D&B would not have been done at a high quality res and would look "off" that way compared to the rest of the picture.
I laughed and told him it was just the opposite. The D&B building looks fresh and sharp, while the real part of the picture looks like it is a slightly lower res.
@princessleia22, that's so cool your DH went to your class with you!
Even if you ignore the trees and the cars, the building itself looks rendered. It doesn't have that "real photo" feeling. Also, look at the building being it, there's a mis-alignment of the windows/floors just above where the D&B was pasted in. Looks like someone took a Google Maps street view photo or a couple of them and pasted it together when a CGI rendering.
