Working from home today, so I can upload a few pics from our Disney trip. The girls had such a fun time, did really good on their first plane trip, and to get 5 days in the sun made DH and I very happy too! We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House and were upgraded from a pool view to a savannah view.. it was awesome! The giraffes and zebras would be right outside of our balcony every morning and we have a pretty good camera (Nikon D3100 with a 18-200mm lens) so we were able to get some nice shots. DH is already talking about going back, but it'll probably have to wait until February break 2018.. definitely looking froward to it!

EDIT: Pics should be clickable now!

  • What great photos!  You're little girls are so super cute.  I can't believe how much they look alike!  If it wasn't for them obviously being different ages, they could be twins.  That must have been fun for them to meet all the princesses.  That safari view room sounds AMAZING.

That's so funny you mention them being twins- we were asked at least 4 times during the trip if they were twins.. especially when they were sitting down. The whole trip was really good- I was worried about them being away from their usual schedule, but they did such a good job. When they were done for the day at the Magic Kingdom, usually around 4:30-5 pm, they let us know. They loved having dinner in the hotel room- thought that was one of the coolest things! The key was not pushing them and since you can only schedule 3 fast passes/day (unless you go to one of their kiosks after the 3 are done), we let them decide what ride they wanted to go on or what area of the Magic Kingdom they wanted to see. It was really laid back (which DH and I both like) for going to Disney World. I'm not a huge Disney person, but the entire experience with the girls and DH was a lot of fun.

  • That's funny about the twin thing! My sister and I are 3.5 years apart and we went on vacation as a family in our teens and we were asked 14 TIMES! if we were twins...

Haha...my sister and I look NOTHING alike.  We've been asked many times through our life if one of us was adopted.  The weird thing is, we both look like both of our parents, but we took opposite traits.

As a child, I had light blond hair and blue eyes.  Not platinum, but pretty light.  My mom and sister have dark brown hair, brown eyes, and a darker complexion.  So does my aunt (mom's sister) and her three daughters.

One day, when we were all still kids, all of us (my family, aunt's family) were at the mall.  My mom had quickly popped into a store and my aunt was alone with me, my sister, and my 3 cousins.  A stranger walking by stopped and did a double take.  He laughed and asked my aunt, "I'm sorry, but I have to ask.  How did you manage the blond?"

OMG, that it crazy! I'm not sure I would take to well with the adopted comment!

I could understand that, but my sis and I just always thought it was funny.  And it wasn't usually strangers who made the adopted comment.  The most typical scenario would be school friends coming over, seeing us together for the first time, commenting on how different we looked from each other and asking if one of us was adopted.

Good at least no one was offended! LOL. My sister and I are total opposites too...she has dark hair, dark eyes and loves to look fashionable, while I have light hair and eyes and looove my sweat pants. We have the same face though so that's how we look like twins. We even sound the same, people get confused as to who's talking when we are together.
  • what an awesome place to stay!! and now i'm craving a disney trip...

They love those dresses- we got them Elsa and Ariel too for the trip. They were so comfortable in them and could run around. A lot of the girls there were in those gigantic princess dresses- they looked so tired and warm in them... glad we had these cute ones as an option!
