  • I'm here. I check in everyday, but crickets. Maybe we should just use Facebook. I don't know.

How are you and the family?

Actually, I think the fb group is even deader.  lol

I'm here everyday as I log in from work, but just not a whole lot to say. :(

Family is good.  Ryan learned how to open doors awhile ago.  Knows where the pantry is.  So he's been helping himself to the food.

Just had a monster storm blow through last night.  High winds, torrential rains.  Apparently tornadoes were spotted which we don't normally see around here.

  • @jtmh2012  LOL! Abby grabs food out of the cabinets too. When she can't reach something because it is up high she just points and says "this".

I can't believe you guys had tornadoes up there. I'm glad you are all safe.

We normally don't.  They're usually quite rare around here.

  • I check in every day...just don't have much to say. Just huge, pregnant, and uncomfortable. Still trying to stay on top of homework and work on getting the nursery and house ready. Good news is, I only have three days of work left.

  • The same storms came up to us too. The cell that was about 3 tornadoes went dead over our house. It wasn't anything by the time it got to us, thank goodness. But it did manage to blow out our only computer with a power surge. And I had a post started before it did. Seems like it will be fixable, just going to take some time in the shop, and a bit of money. At least J finally learned his lesson about turning the computer off during storms.

  • @imperiumwife I'm glad you are both safe. That sucks about your computer, but like you said, lesson learned, maybe.

Just turning it off won't prevent it although it does help. Make sure it's on a good surge protector as well, not just an outlet strip.

It's on a pretty good strip, but we think it has to do with the way the drives are raided, and the guy at the shop says it's pretty common for a simple power surge to mess that up and cause the computer to not boot Windows. Hopefully it will all be okay. On another note, I can't believe I'm at 31 weeks today!

  • That's how I feel about being 35 weeks. We finally went out last night and got the car seat/stroller. Tried picking up a few more things like a bottle warmer, monitor, few extra bottles, but the stores around us were packed and I was getting tired. Ended up just ordering everything else from Amazon. Even ordered some stuff for me for after baby recovery. I love Amazon Prime.

I should have said really small surge. Even just the power going off quick enough can trigger it.... Maybe I'm getting a load of crap?

I'm interested to see what I'm getting for my shower this weekend. I keep looking at the "numbers" on the tops of the registries, and like nothing has changed from my work shower. I really do need to stop stressing over it though.

  • I had the same thing. Mine was because very few people bought off the registry and if they did, it wasn't marked as purchased. Ultimately, I knew my family was going to buy what they wanted. The stuff that we got duplicates of was stuff that I didn't care about..:like the same bath time gift set or it's extra stuff that we are sending to grandparents houses like we got two extra bouncy seats. This is stuff we purposely didn't register for because I was being picky and I wanted to buy it. After this order, we are all set = ). Now to finish tackling the nursery....

  • I probably should have done that.... but then I already got snide comments that I'm missing "essentials." I mean, I don't mind buying some stuff, but I thought I'd get somebody buying at least one diaper... since that's a majority of my registry. And I really don't care about the clothes that show up, since they will be gender neutral, since almost no one knows the sex of the baby. And I know some people are making stuff for me, like my friend and MIL. I just hope no one else shows up with bath stuff.... I already have like 12 bottles of stuff from my work shower. I don't need any more....

  • I totally understand. We didn't get quite that much bath stuff, but we got at least four of the same gift set with the shampoo, lotions, etc. in it. I didn't register for any clothes and actually told almost everyone to please not buy him any clothes, or if they did to buy 12 months and up. He has SO much already. And that's the majority of what I ended up with. People just can't resist baby clothes.

I had told my step-mom, mom, mother in law and sister (the main people who hosted the shower) about how we were buying the diaper bag, car seat, stroller, etc.and I was being picky about it. They were great about communicating this with people. So I avoided the snide comments and got lucky.

Don't stress! It'll be fun and one way or another you'll get everything you need. You can always donate extra stuff, return it or give it away to someone else.

  • Hopefully I can return it. I'm just so big on other people spending money on things I don't need, especially when I have other stuff I do need. I might just be sending you all the disposable diapers I get though.

  • Hey, I'm here. I check in but for some reason I can't post from my phone anymore. It won't allow me to write anything in the reply. It has been driving me nuts because there have been times I wanted to reply but couldn't. So now I'm on my desktop replying.

We are house hunting. Our rental lease is up May 1 and out of the blue we decided to look at a house. That house didn't impress us but our realtor has shown us others and we really like 2. One is a new construction home and the other is a 7 year old home in a development. The 7 year home is a short sale and it is a bargain. When it was built it sold for over 300,000, now the asking price is 200,000. It has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath, 2 car garage, a finished basement, very nice kitchen, and a separate dining room. It would need new carpet in the bedrooms and basement and new paint. The new construction home is smaller and the asking price is 234,900. It doesn't have a refrigerator or a washer and dryer. No dining room and smaller bedrooms, but it is new and that's what I like about it. Plus, there will be less of a house to maintain. My dad came with us to look and he loves the 7 year old home. He thinks we should put in an offer tomorrow, lol. We'll see.

  • That's great @TaraW1979 !! I'm so happy you are looking to buy a house. I like the idea of less to maintain while kids are this age. Are you planning on this being your forever home or just your first home?
