Isn't it Friday? What's everyone reading?!

Sorry if I'm stepping on toes by posting this, but it's already after lunch and there's no WAYR thread.

Also, anyone have exciting plans for the weekend?  I do not and I want to live vicariously.

Re: Isn't it Friday? What's everyone reading?!

  • I'm reading Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis.  I really like it.  Each chapter is a different story, so it's sort of a glimpse or brief insight into one issue involving a smaller group of people and their interactions.

This is only my 9th book for the year.  I had a really strong January, and then I've been slacking ever since.
  • Tonight I'm finishing the last 20 pages of Dark Places before I do anything else. After that I plan to start Paper Towns, hoping that will be a quick read. Working an event tomorrow (Saturday) then having a dating anniversary dinner with the husband.

This will be book 4 and 5 for the year. I had a great January, DP took longer than I wanted to read but I hope to catch up with a couple of quick reads in March.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
  • @dutchgirl76 - How are you liking Dark Places?  It was my favorite GF.  Have you read her others yet?

Paper Towns was a really quick read for me.

It's good...I liked Gone Girl, but I knew there was a twist to each one of these books so I think I was a little less surprised. I do like the back and forth from present to past with different characters but I feel like it could be a bit shorter and still get to the point. I tried immersion reading where I listened to the audio book while reading, that helped bring the book to life. Once I finally finish and see the way it pans out I'll find the old thread with spoilers. I hope to watch the movie this weekend too, not sure if it was any good.
  • I'm listening to The Raven Boys and loving it. I'm a little less than halfway through. I'm reading The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by Sharyn McCrumb. It's ok, and it's keeping my interest enough to finish it, but I don't see myself reading any of her other books.

DH is at a training thing from 9-3 tomorrow, so I am having some quality me and the kitties time while he's gone. It's the first Saturday in ages where I haven't had to be anywhere or do anything and I plan on enjoying it.
