34 Weeks

Tomorrow is officially 34 weeks. I had my u/s yesterday, and everything was looking good. I confirmed the girl bits, and miraculously, J still doesn't know. He actually woke up from a dream the other day to tell me that someone gave it away and it was a boy! Which was hilarious, but I couldn't laugh.

Anyway, I've finally chosen the name... Ekaterina Naomi... and I say I've chosen, because the nickname for Ekaterina is Katya, which J really really liked, and he he said I could choose between the formal name and the nickname for the birth certificate. He's decided that he's only ever going to call her Katya. We wanted a first name that went with our very Slavic and unusual last name, and Naomi was my grandmother's middle name.

  • Congrats on picking the name! What a big decision. I love  it. It is very unique. I always thought your last name was Smith. I guess I was wrong, lol.

  • Thanks! Tara- that's because that's what I have it as on Facebook. I have such a unique last name that there are literally three family groups in the entire US, so I'm really, really careful about not sharing it, especially with teaching. If you want to know what it actually is, the only other person I'm friends with on Facebook besides you guys is my BIL, so you should be able to figure out what it is!

  • That is such a unique name. I really like the nickname. I just can't figure out how you pronounce the full name. I like that you are sticking with a family name from your heritage.

  • I youtubed a few things to figure out how to pronounce it.  I have never heard of it.
  • It's a very common name in Russia, which isn't quite his heritage, he's more eastern European, but we both liked it. It's pronounced eh-cat-er-ina and the nickname is Cot-ya. It's the Russian form of Katherine, actually. It's actually the name of quite a few Russian figure skaters from over the years. (I figure skated for years, if I haven't already said), so my parents are actually going to know the name because of my obsession with figure skating. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of other looks though.
