AW: Booked a cruise!

H and I have been saying the last couple of years that we'd like to do a warm-weather getaway in the colder months, in addition to our regular summer vacation.  I just booked a Royal Caribbean cruise for 4-nights to the Bahamas for next February!  They were having a great sale and I couldn't pass it up!  I only had to pay a $200 deposit with nothing else due until December, so if for some reason we decided it wasn't in the budget, we could cancel up until then.

I know it's almost a year away but I'm still so excited!!!  We've done two previous cruises; one to Alaska and one in Hawaii.  This one will visit the Bahamas and Key West--which is a place on my bucket list!

Re: AW: Booked a cruise!

  • I really want to take an Alaska cruise at some point - we would need to take more than a week off for it though, so it's hard to find the time!

You'll love the Bahamas and Key West.  Both great places!

  • Awesome! What ship are you going on?
  • Bahama water is SO BLUE!! It's amazing, you'll love it! It's on my list of places to go back to.

And @hoffse - do it, Alaska is so beautiful! I did a cruise there a few years ago and it was awesome.

  • Congrats!!!  That should be a wonderful trip.  And it's nice to be able to "sneak an extra vacation in" when you find a good deal.
  • Awesome! What ship are you going on?
Enchantment of the Seas--a smaller ship which we are fine with!
  • Fun! Where do you leave from?

Awesome! That will work well especially since your only going to 1 place. That was the first ship I went on with them on a family vacation.

It leaves out of Miami.  I think we'll try to get there a day early to maybe check out a beach nearby?  I haven't even started planning any of that yet.  We'll eventually get back to Miami for a baseball game, so I'm not super worried about trying to see the sights while we're there.

I haven't sailed Royal Caribbean before--we've previously sailed Princess and NCL.  I'm not cruise line loyal, I just try to get the best deal that's going someplace we want to go :)
