Re: TTC/3T Check-in... Come back everyone! :)

  • Where are you at in your TTC journey? Had appointment with March's 3rd (and final) RE last week, and have appointment with high risk OB/perinatology later this month (to review previous records from our loss in 2014). Also, still waiting on my genetic testing results that were drawn last month. Once we have all that info, then we're moving forward with RE #3. All 3 RE's feel like there still is a chance that I can use my own eggs (pending genetic testing and perinatologist eval). This last one's suggestion is to suppress x 1 month, give stims and do egg retrieval x 2, then freeze all, and have FET in month 4. His treatment plan will cost us less than one full cycle with our last RE, and this RE has already told us that if I'm under performing, he'll revert me to IUI (if we want) and refund the difference. If that doesn't work, then we go back to moving forward with donor egg. At that point though, H will be graduated (finally! woo hoo!) and working full-time again. We'll have to start over again with our savings, but it will be quicker and easier to get there this time.

Any testing coming up? Once we have the genetic testing and that last appointment done, I'll need a recheck of my AMH and thyroid function and a saline sonohysterogram.

Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..) H and I went to the Grand Canyon last weekend, and I seriously have NO idea why anyone thinks it's fun to camp when it's 25 degrees at night?! Regardless, we had a great time with each others' undivided attention, for once! We were able to really chat about moving forward with IF plans, H's internship opportunities, and my work schedule assuming that we're able to get pregnant this summer (going down to 4 days per week!). It's nice to have something to look forward to, even though I know the coming months are still going to be super stressful!

QOTW: I've been using StitchFix and loving it. Some of the fixes are definite bummers, but I've been keeping at least one item each time that I love and wear over-and-over. I also caved and bought bras from Third Love after seeing a thousand ads on my Facebook feed. I'm actually super happy with them though (except the lack of padding in the nipple area, if you know what I mean!). For shoes, I'm all about Payless. I have huge feet (size 11), I'm cheap, and I love to have a big variety of shoes to choose from. Payless it is. :)

  • @futuremrswright2012 Such a wonderful update!  That RE sounds like he has the perfect plan for you guys, and the option to move to an IUI and refund the difference sounds like a good fallback plan.

Where are you at in your TTC journey?

    9 months into TTC2.0.  On CD38 and 5 DPO!!!!!!
    Any testing coming up?
Yup.  Will start testing Friday morning at 8DPO because I have zero patience/willpower/self control.

We are hosting Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University at our church.  It's so inspiring to see it click with people about how to handle their finances and take control of their money.  One couple thanked us because they were finally able to dream together again That after just 2 weeks of attending the class, they feel like their marriage has strengthened more than they ever imagined.  It's wonderful to see.
QOTW: What is your favorite place to shop for clothes, shoes, unders?
I love Maurices, but really I shop the clearance section wherever I am.  I've probably spent a whopping $50 on clothes in the past 6 months.  Although, I LOVE the balconette bras from Fashion Bug, and Gilligan O'Maley thongs from Target.  I'm picky about the fabric of the thongs though and am having a hard time finding them.  So I check every Target I step into.

  • @brij2006 - I'm super nervous about going down that road again, but at least it feels like we're not going to get screwed over financially if things are looking the same this time around.

Hooray for being 5 DPO!!! Hope your timing was spot on any this is it! FX!!! So awesome about the Dave Ramsey class. I'm not religious, but my H and I have been following his tips for the past year to pay down debt and save up. Very easy to understand and put into practice! Great work!

That is so awesome to read!  We've been living by his principals for 3 years and are now on step 7.  Our life and marriage are so much better than it was before, because of it.  It was so weird to discuss calling the RE and not to worry as much about the financial aspect of it because we have a plan.  3 years ago when we wanted to move forward with another treatment, it was going to take us 6 months to save up the money to do so and we were just doing Clomid with monitoring (no IF coverage on insurance). This time around, we have put money aside the last 2 months and have enough to pay for all the testing needed and 1 round of treatment and monitoring.  Big big difference.

Our timing was -3 and on O day.  So hopefully it's good enough.

  • Awesome, @brij2006! I'm not proud to say it, but we have accrued a lot of debt with our past cycles, but this time around we'll be paying all cash! One less stress, right?!

Thank you for thinking of us, @sweetpotato123! <3 Keep those fingers and toes crossed for us that this is a productive summer! ;)

1 less stress is worth every other sacrifice. It sucks not going out to eat as much, or the fact that I try to be very savvy with our groceries (especially with the PCOS diet).  But knowing that whenever we're ready, we don't have to stress as much about how we're going to afford to see the RE, is worth every bit of the other sacrifices we make.
