Since it's a slow Friday at work, here are some random questions for you:
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
Re: Just for fun....
It's a quiet Friday for me too.
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching? Not much.
We don't have cable and we just aren't big Netflix users. I guess we need to finish the second season of Turn on Netflix and I like to watch programs on our public broadcasting station but that's about it. When the Outlander season 2 is available for purchase I'll definitely buy it though!
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing? We have a beach trip planned in July with my parents and sisters. I don't have any vacation though so it will be a working trip for me and I'll hopefully get to hit up the beach early early in the morning and late in the evening...which is probably the best time for it anyway.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer? Always. Paint our basement, paint the bathroom vanities, complete our front garden project meaning put up the retention wall, spread new mulch, and get some plants for it.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you? Hopefully not spendy. We did all our expensive projects in the first few months of the year. My parents wanted to pay for the beach house rental so we won't even have a huge cost there.
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching? We just finished up Fargo Season 2.. we loved it! We're all caught up for now and we don't watch much in the summer.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing? I take every Friday off in the summer and we take the girls around our area for a day trip. It's a lot of fun and now that they're both done with naps, it'll be easier to go places that are farther away.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
DH is a teacher so he gets lots of time off- we'll be gutting our upstairs bathroom his first day on break. We're also meeting with a company about some outside work next week- we'll see what they say on that.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you? It depends- the upstairs bathroom is easy to cash flow, but if we get all of the outside work done too, we're probably looking at a HELOC.
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
I'd really like to see Alice through the Looking Glass, and Now You See Me 2. For TV there's not much on but I watch the Kardashians, Naked and Afraid, Teen Mom 2, Little People big World, Deadliest Catch, Mountain Men (don't judge on these shows lol). I also just finished Fuller House on Netflix which I loved!
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
We will be doing a lot of bike riding on the paved trails and in our neighborhood, Kayaking/Paddle boarding, campfires, mini golfing and maybe heading to the beach...not a huge fan of our state beaches because the water is yucky looking so we need to go to MA or RI for some good beaches, but probably won't be heading that far as H doesn't like the beach.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
Not much, other than getting new storm doors put in, the driveway being paved and painting our front steps and putting out a new door mat. We have a few planned for late summer/fall but not thinking about those right now.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
We have a lot of saving back up to do from the driveway and for our Sandals trip in 2017so it will be low to moderate spending on some cheap summer activities. We want to continue on replacing our furniture throughout our house but that won't be until we are comfy with our savings again.
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
We just finished watching "The Ranch" on Netflix. H found it amusing, I thought it was a bit silly. OITNB starts up next week! Also, hockey is still on for another game or two, so we watch that. But once that's over we'll have to find a new series to start.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
Well, we leave in less than a week to go to an outdoor country music festival, and we camp there. We have a toyhauler camper. We've got a quick weekend camping trip planned for July, and a 3 day weekend camping/offroading trip planned for August with friends. We're also looking at maybe taking some time off and going on an extended camping/offroading trip after Labor Day, for our anniversary, and going somewhere further away since we don't normally have the time for a 4+ hour trip. Still working that out though. Otherwise we might just take some daytime off roading trips to closer locations (we have a Polaris RZR side by side that H bought last fall, that I originally thought was ridiculous but now I'm obsessed with it).
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
Installing our backyard. We're looking at starting it the 3rd week of July with our landscaper. We are putting in a large paver patio with a natural gas firepit, some concrete on the south side of the house along with a berm and some trees. Some rock beds with smaller plants as well (we sort of just let the landscaper do what he wants for that within our budget). Then, depending on where we're at budget-wise, we will be adding some sod (at the very least, plumbing for sprinklers to add sod next year), and perhaps a small retaining wall on the north side where we park our camper, to help level it out a bit over there. We've already purchased an outdoor couch/chair set because it was on sale at Costco for $500 off, it's being delivered next week. We'll also be buying an outdoor dining set and a new grill (!!). I'm really excited about the new grill LOL
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
Uh see above. Very spendy, just like last summer when we did our driveway and front yard, and had our wedding in September. Then, we should be done with spendy house projects for at least a few years.
Since it's a slow Friday at work, here are some random questions for you:
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
We love MasterChef, and I love watching the trainwreck that is the Bachelor/Bachelorette during the summer. Otherwise, we usually do a lot of redbox rentals.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
Summer here is.... hot. Very hot. We go to minor league baseball pretty often. Both of our firms have boxes, so we can usually get tickets for free, and the boxes have A/C and are catered with stadium food, beer, wine, etc. It's pretty awesome. We've discussed going to the lake a few times and renting a boat, but our house plans for this summer are kind of spendy, so we might not this year.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
H is about to do a patio with fire pit. By himself. It's going to be a ton of work, and I think he's lost it.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
Pretty spendy. We will be cash-flowing the prep work for the patio (tilling, gravel, sand, etc.), but the flagstones we are going to buy will probably come out of savings. Also, we want adirondack chairs around the fire pit, and I'm debating the best way to do it. We might buy plain chairs and paint them a bright color, or I might just spring for the colored polywood (resin) chairs that have a 20 year warranty and won't flake or rot. The polywood is much easier, but it's also significantly more expensive. Then again, 20 years? Might be worth the cost to just do it.
We are also going to Rome & Venice in a couple weeks. Most of the stuff we plan to do has been prepaid, but it will still be spendy. Those are expensive cities, Venice in particular.
- We just started season 2 of Bloodline on Netflix and we'll be watching Orange is the New Black next week. I'm not really a big movie watcher, but my aunt and I are going to see Finding Dory when it comes out.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
- We're taking a road trip through WI and MN. There's a fairly good chance that we'll be moving to MSP in the short term, so we want to go check it out. I'm pretty excited about it!
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?!
- A leak sprung in our basement this past week that was discovered when new smoke detectors were being installed. So we now have to repair two big holes that were cut into try drywall to stop the leak. Painting has now been placed on hold while we patch the walls. And if we find out more about moving, we won't be painting at all.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
- TBD. It should be reasonable depending on what happens with the house. We're not planning anything bi, so hopefully we can stash some savings away.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer? Not much, just painting the kitchen, dining room and hallway, but we'll spread those out over a few months and my mom will come up to help.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you? Hopefully not!
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
We like to watch americas got talent - all of our other shows are reruns. We also want to see the cartoon movie coming out about pets and dory.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
hitting up the community pool and splash pad, maybe a weekend road trip, possibly a night of camping.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
not this summer but we decided to do our landscaping project in the fall probably september
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
non-spendy because of DH's studio project to be completed in July
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching? We're currently catching up on Game of Thrones. Just started season 4 last night.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing? Biking, grilling, enjoying our patio. We spent yesterday afternoon hanging out with friends at a local beer garden, which was so fun!
3. Any household projects planned for the summer? Our bathroom is going to be gutted sometime in July/August. Thankfully this isn't a DIY project. Otherwise we're doing small-ish updates to our landscaping, like refreshing the edging and refreshing mulch, and in the area around the patio we're removing the old mulch and laying rock instead. I also have my eye on lamp sales for our bedroom.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you? Spendy. I'm throwing a bridal shower, we're going to a wedding on the West Coast (which is vacation + wedding costs), H and I are both standing up in my brother's wedding, and in a couple weeks we're going on a weekend-long out-of-town event for an organization we belong to. I'm cringing just thinking about all this.
Since it's a slow Friday at work, here are some random questions for you:
1. What TV shows/movies are you or will you be watching?
I watch pretty much all the crime dramas. Bummed that the show Castle had their last season a few weeks ago. The last season for Rizzoli and Isles just started.
A couple of you mentioned Master Chef. I'm not familiar with it, is it on the Food Network? On that channel, I follow Chopped and Restaurant Impossible.
2. Any fun spring/summer outdoor/family activities you will be doing?
I'm taking the Friday before July 4th weekend off. Nothing that exciting, except I LOVE the opportunity for a 4-day weekend when I only have to take 4 hours of vacation for it. Other than that, I lay pretty low and indoors during the summer time. It's already very hot in NOLA and will just be getting worse.
3. Any household projects planned for the summer?
New flooring, new interior paint, and turn one of my bedrooms into a big walk-in closet. Those are good summer projects because they are inside. With that said, none of them are urgent and I have other fish to fry. I'd like to at least get the painting done but I might get none of it done.
4. Will this be a spendy or non-spendy summer for you?
Time will tell, lol. Probably not very spendy...unless I get gung-ho with all of the above projects. The other "always a summer time maybe" is if I have to evacuate for a hurricane. That gets real spendy, real fast.
