Do you have any side hustles?

Do you have any side hustles?  A part time job? Rentals? A small Biz?

Do you have any thing that brings in $ besides your main job?

Re: Do you have any side hustles?

  • We recently had a thread on this, I would try searching the forum, I don't think it was that long ago.
  • I picked up a part-time job for 8 months from 2014-2015 when we were saving up for a house...H picks up OT when he can and we're not busy.

    I sell things on Craisglist

    I consign clothes

We use credit cards points/rewards for cash, bill credits or gift cards

We collect all our loose change and cash it in when we have a large amount

And that's about it! Nothing crazy

  • I do microjobs on Easy Shift, Field Agent and Gig Wall.

I occasionally do phone surveys for cash.  The ones I do pay about $250/hour, which is great.  I get tapped for them because of what I do for a living though, so I'm not sure if that really counts.

My H moonlights as a classical composer, and he will sometimes gig for pay or sell his pieces.  We make about $1,000/year doing that.  Not much, but it always comes at the end of the year, which is convenient for the holidays.

  • I sell Tastefully Simple and do mystery shopping.

My H also buys cars that need repairs, fixes them, then re-sells them for a profit. I have started to do the cleaning and detailing on them since most are quite grubby and need it. Some months we bring in an extra $300, other months it's an extra $2,000. All depends on what he buys and if we can flip multiple ones in a month.

  • I've been a mystery shopper for over 15 years, though I don't do it nearly as much as I used to.  I also occasionally scroll Craig's List for paid forum and mock jury opportunities.  That kind of thing.

I also have a p/t job, though technically I am an independent contractor, taking pictures of hotel event boards.  It's very flexible and the money is spectacular for the time involved.  I'm paid per hotel, but it usually averages out to be $45/hour.  Though the gas and wear and tear on my car is all on me.

I also own rental property.  My personal home is a duplex and I've been renting out the other side for 5 years.  When I saw how awesome that was, I decided real estate investing was going to be my path for early retirement.  I now own another duplex and one single family house.  And on the hunt for my next one.

H does mystery shopping.  It doesn't pay much cash but it we average about 2 free dinners out per month.

H did Uber for a couple of months when he didn't have FT work.  I hope he still does it on some of the big $$ days even though he is working FT now.

We rent our spare room on AirBnB and through other avenues.  We should make about $4K-$5K per year doing this.
