Got home last night to find an invitation to a baby shower for our new niece.... which is being hosted out of town, next Saturday. Nobody bothered to tell us earlier. Nobody bothered to tell my MIL & FIL earlier either. MIL & FIL are getting them the crib. H and I are doing the mattress and sheets/crib skirt set. We had decided this awhile ago and MIL still wants to stick to the plan.
We were planning on buying them our gift next month and had budgeted for it at that time. Now we had to move that up and pay expedited shipping to boot in order to be sure our gift will arrive in time for the shower. Oh, plus a totally unplanned trip to Atlanta next weekend.
It's whatever. But not going to lie, getting 1 week's notice for a shower FOR OUR NIECE really rubbed me the wrong way.
Any other vents?
Re: Small vent
Wow, that stinks! I wonder why it was so last minute...? I'd be really annoyed for sure so don't feel alone!
My vent- One of the cable cords for our auto garage door snapped Thursday AM, so now we have to have someone come out to repair it next week. Ugh! We can still use is manually but it's a pain and something that wasn't planned! I have to transfer $ from our online house account which won't be in our checking account until Monday so we can't have it fixed sooner....we are now going to keep $1,000 in our BOA savings account just to have a large amount of cash on hand right away for emergencies like this!
It is Friday and I am happy so not much to vent about so I guess I'll go with my getting older health problems. My back hurts, if it doesn't start feeling better it could slow me down on the chores I want to do this weekend.

I was really hurt when a good friend of mine, who lives OOT from me in CA, sent a wedding invitation with only 3 weeks notice. I didn't even know she was engaged! As it turned out, they were having a low key wedding in her parent's backyard and were only having about a one month engagement.
I still couldn't make it due to the short notice and the fact that my return flight would have been on the first weekend of the Mardi Gras parade season. Which would have meant few seats available, ie high dollar cost. But I was at least a little mollified. At first I thought she had B-listed me.
You and your H are troopers, @hoffse. It does seem weird that, even if the invitations were sent late, your MIL and FIL weren't at least given a heads up phone call!
I'm down to my last grandparent and she's having memory issues.
I'm so sorry to hear that! Life is too short and time goes by way too fast.
I really sympathize. I only have my grandmother left. She's 91 and, although there isn't anything immediately concerning, she is just in ill health all around and it would no longer be a surprise to get that dreaded phone call from my mom (her daughter).
