Re: TTC/3T Check-in

  • Where are you at in your TTC journey? Cycle #6, CD26

Any testing coming up? OPKs and temping. I do have an appointment with my RE tomorrow, so we'll see what she says. The OPKs aren't telling me much, but I'd rather keep using them to back up my story.

Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..) I broke my toe last Friday, right after I did yoga and joined a yoga studio. I'm pretty pissed at myself. It's not even a toe that usually is impacted by my clumsiness! I tend to break my pinky toes all the time...this is one toe in. It got caught of our younger dog's wire kennel. I know I should be glad I can wear flip-flops because closed-toed shoes are a no-go, but I want to wear nicer looking shoes!!! I have all these cute sandals that I can't wear because they go right across that spot. Plus, I can't wear my sneakers, which is aggravating my plantar fasciitis. Basically, my feet are a mess.

FFC/AW of the Week (no rules): I got called last night to do a political survey. I don't think the guy on the other end knew what to do with me because I kept laughing and makes jokes...which he didn't understand.

  • I got my FET calendar yesterday!  I should begin bleeding today, have an SIS and blood work next week, and then get started.  At the moment, though this can change, the transfer is scheduled for September 26.

I'm honestly pretty stressed about it.  We have one embryo and I'm really unsure whether another fresh cycle is something I'd be willing to do, so I'm all in on this one.  I'm doing my best to make healthy decisions so that if it doesn't work, at least I'll know I did everything I could.  Of course, I ate several bites of leftover macaroni and cheese, and a handful of M&Ms, for breakfast.  Time to knock that off.

I'm really nervous to tell my employer that we're going through this again.  I have to because of the time I'll need off for appointments.  My clinic is about an hour away, so even simple blood tests mean time off work.  I know it feels like I just came back from my leave.... but really, it's just that time flies.  If this works, my kids would be 2 years apart, which really isn't a tiny gap.  It just feels recent because time goes so fast.  :)

FFC/AW: Next week will be 4 years since we had our first baby.  While time has definitely eased the pain, it just never goes away.  I miss him.  I think about him every day.  I think most people probably think I am crazy and can't let go, and it is so hard to explain this... but I feel like he is such a part of me.  Part of my heart died that day too.  Even my husband doesn't understand it in the same way.  I feel like it is my hurt, and my loss, and my grief.  It's hard.

  • Where are you at in your TTC journey? New here - first post :)  We have been TTC #2 for 2 months now.  Just started spotting today so AF is due to start Friday. Going into month 3 soon.

Any testing coming up?  No testing.  I'm not big into it.  I would have to not have my period to test.  I do however have a question - I'm wanting to try OPKs but not sure which brand works best.  I know DH wouldn't want to try those this soon but I figure we should be proactive with this.

Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..)  There has been some drama in the family but that's about it.  Its a long story.

FFC/AW of the Week (no rules):  I bought some milkweed a few days ago.  Hoping to attract some butterflies.

@vlagrl35 - Welcome! I use the cheap Wondfo OPKs. You can buy 50 on Amazon for a good price. You can also get the Clear Blue ones, but they're a lot more expensive.

As for me, it's official...I have PCOS. Or, as my RE said, PCOS-like. LOL. However, my numbers are not as bad as they could be. Treatment with Metformin is optional, but recommended. At least there's a plan now. I feel better about it all...as good as it can be.

ETA: Also, my RE says that although my thyroid numbers are within the normal range, she really wants it treated because it'll increase my chances. So now, I get to go to an endocrinologist. She also said that while everything thyroid-wise looks normal, it is more than likely that I'll have problems later since I have a family history of thyroid issues. Fun times.

Thanks I will check those out. Sorry about your toe :( Kind of hard to do yoga with a broke toe.
  • @lfk2013 - Sorry about your toe! That's interesting that your RE doesn't want to manage your thyroid stuff. Hopefully, whoever she's sending you to will see the value in treating you, even with normal levels.

@ilovewhitevinotoo - How exciting to officially have your FET calendar! Everything is crossed that this works and your employer is supportive. Do you end up filing for intermittent FMLA for something like this? I was considering that for myself this next go around.

Sending you so many hugs this week. <3 F anyone else who thinks that you're crazy. No one can ever truly understand the impact that losing our little boys will have on us the rest of our lives.

@vlagrl35 - Welcome to you! GL with TTC #2!

AFM - No TTC updates. Still in holding pattern and waiting for mid-September.

Unfortunately, our boxer may have tore up her knee and is hobbling around for the past week. She's on pain meds, and we're scheduled with ortho vet this Friday. Hoping so hard that this will heal non-surgically. Otherwise, this may damper our timeline for DE IVF. :(

  • @ilovewhitevinotoo So many things crossed for you two!  Also, every bit of your feelings are valid.  Everyone handles grief differently and this is how you're handling it.  There's no write or wrong way, and nobody (not even you) need to understand why or how you handle it that way.

@lfk2013 I'm sorry about your diagnosis but am glad this means you now know what your options are.  FWIW I finally started Met a few months ago and it's been helping at least a little bit.

@vlagrl29 Welcome to GP!  It's nice seeing you over here. As for OPK's, I use the cheap Wondfo brand ones you can get in bulk on amazon.  Order some small disposable cups to pee in as well and dip them into.  Makes things easier.

Where are you at in your TTC journey?
    Month 14
    Any testing coming up?
Eh, took an OPK yesterday morning at CD13.  Pretty darn negative.  I had a temp dip this morning, so hopefully I'm Oing today or tomorrow.  Not going to get my hopes up though.  I know better. We DTD twice yesterday though, so if I do then our timing should be fine.
Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..)
H and I have been discussing our desire for another child a lot more lately.  As well as more in depth.  He hasn't fully come out and said it, but I think he's ready to see the RE.
FFC/AW of the Week (no rules):
I don't think I'm ready to go to the RE anymore.  I was a few months ago, but now I'm not.  We are starting with a marriage counselor that has an emphasis on IF so hopefully that will help some.  Just wishing we would have done that sooner rather than having all of the chemical pregnancies, long cycles, and miscarriage build up and not handle the emotional side of all of it.
    3T is fun, right? Ugh.
