Re: Week/end Accountability

  • 1. $30 Chinese food, $20 Gas, $26 liquor store, $25 Grocery store

    2. We get paid this week, but we got our annual house insurance dividend check back from Amica for $211 so we are putting that towards the grill. Good timing!

    3. I took Friday off as well so looking forward to the 4 day weekend. I need the sleep badly, so tired in the mornings lately. My birthday is Thursday so on Friday we are going to the outlets to shop and hitting up my favorite seafood restaurant for steamers, yum! Over the weekend we will have some friends over for a BBQ and then the rest is up in the air. Cleaning, laundry etc. Monday H works 16 hours for holiday pay so he'll be getting paid for 40 hours in that one day...looking forward to that check.

  • 1. A little spendy. $94 at the grocery store, $27 on a tank of gas, $179 at GNC.

    2. $250 to savings, $100 to our cash stash.

    3. We're leaving for a week in MN on Saturday. I can't wait. It'll be so nice to get away for a week!

    1.  How MM was your week/end? Pretty good- groceries ($140), Target ($20), breakfast with DH's parents for their anniversary ($55), parking to see Mama Duck at our canalside ($10).

    2.  Any progress toward goals? Nothing financial this week although we're set to start our $500/paycheck to savings again next week. The basketweave tile floor is dry fitted for the bathroom and the built in linen cabinet will be installed on Friday- can't wait to see it!

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend? More bathroom work- install the floor, finish up the tile around the cabinet and grout if we have time. Hopefully we'll be able to schedule the sink/toilet/fixture install for the following Friday when I wfh. Girls are having a sleepover at DH's parents house and we're going out for sushi. Get everything ready for school to start for DD#1 (1st grade), DD#2 (pre-K), and DH (teacher).

  • 1.  How MM was your week/end? Well, we put a hefty downpayment on a car on Friday, so there's that, but of course it came from savings so it's separate from our monthly budget. $17 for dinner on Friday, $50 on watertite paint for the church rectory basement (will be a donation), $22 on drinks/app on Saturday at the bowling alley, but the bowling was free so it balances out. $20 weekly donation to church, $17 at Kohl's for jewelry & a sweater (had a 30% off coupon + $25 gift card; jewelry is for my brother's wedding and the sweater was an impulse buy but it was on sale! And winter is coming...). I'm ready to stop spending money lol.

    2.  Any progress toward goals? Financially, no. Otherwise, yes. The bathroom is done and we've purchased a new car, which have been large goals of ours for awhile. Feels great to have them done.

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend? Standing up in my brother's wedding :)<3
  • 1.  Okay.  We did get Chinese takeout on Friday and Mexican on Sunday, probably totaling $50 combined.  Then $70 at Costco and $30 at Sprouts.

    2.  Nothing too huge last week - but Wednesday we will be kicking Sallie Mae to the curb (well, technically Nelnet) but paying off the last $4,000 of our student loans.  I am beyond. excited.

    3.  No major plans but I did decide to take Monday off, I think.  I could use some rest but do love working holidays and being able to wear jeans in the office!

  • 1.  Not the best, but not terrible either.  I went with a friend to the Denver Modernism show.  It was $10 to get in, and $8 (grr) to park.  But, once in there, it kind of sucked and everything was expensive, I was expecting it to be more like, swap meet prices, not fancy vintage store prices.  So anyway, didn't spend anything once in there.  We went to the mall afterwards and I spent $30 on a shirt and some sunglasses at Loft.  $95 at the grocery store, $26 on gas.

    2.  Wasn't a payday week, so not really.

    3.  We are having a party at our house on Saturday, both because our patio is done, and our 1st anniversary is on the 12th.  H's folks (both sets!) are coming down and it should be fun, I'm doing a taco bar for food, and then s'mores for dessert at our fire pit!  We're expecting around 25-30.  And, I know I still owe y'all pics of the patio.
  • 1.  How MM was your week/end? Really good as I was stuck at home without the car for most of the time! I got a lot of housework done though. $40 at the grocery store which was actually a splurge since we only needed milk and yogurt, but I was craving a really good steak dinner lol. At least I resisted the urge to go to a steakhouse and I made it myself!

    2.  Any progress toward goals?  Just the usual weekly transfer to savings.

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend? We have a wedding on Sunday, but otherwise I think we will just relax and keep life low-key.

    And the new puppy :).
  • 1.  How MM was your week/end?

It's been a horrible week financially, lol.  But nothing unexpected.  Spent $1600 on repairs for one of our rental houses.  Planning to throw a new roof on that same house in another month or so...that will be another $6K-$8K.  However, all these repairs were known when I bought it.

Spent $1,004 (so far) on our upcoming trip to Boston, but that covers airfare/lodging for two people for 7 days/6 nights.  So, although money spent, I'm considering it an MM win.

It was also a "grocery stock up" weekend.  Spent $120 at Sam's Club and $180 at Walmart.

    2.  Any progress toward goals?

Not really, though I am in the home stretch to close on my new rental duplex.  I WISH I could close before Labor Day and use my extra free time to start painting, but I strongly doubt it (sigh).  It will probably be next week instead.

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend?

It kind of snuck up on me!  I'm going to take my half-day Friday off and turn it into a 4-day weekend.  No plans, other than lounging around.  But I don't want to waste the whole weekend.  I need to figure out a game plan for which long overdue projects around the house I want to tackle.

  • 1 - Not bad.  Went for dinner ($15) and movie ($22) Friday night.  Sunday got DD headphones for school ($8).

    2 - $133 to savings and $133 to retirement

3 - We are actually going camping at a lake about 20 minutes from our house.  We are staying 2 nights.  I'm kinda nervous - I haven't camped in 10 years.  It will be a great way to end the summer with DD and DH.
  • 1. It was fine! Made a few within-budget practical purchases (mostly clothing) to take advantage of end of summer sales, bought some grillables for hanging out with a couple of friends, and spent some fun budget at a food truck festival with other friends.

    2. Not a paycheck week, so no. Next week we're back to making progress again, hooray!

    3. It will be pretty low key. There are a couple of friends we may do a night in with, I'd like to get to a yoga class, and we're going to Ikea Monday to make a budgeted-for purchase with a coupon that is expiring soon. I love to go on holiday Mondays to take advantage of free breakfast. Lingonberry pancakes for life!
  • 1.  How MM was your week/end?
We were on vacation from last monday until last night (Sunday) but stayed at my inlaws lake house so our accomodations were free.  They have a boat, and we have paddle boards so plenty to do.  Only things we paid for were food & one dinner out (which was $200 for a dinner train but its all local food and sooo good). We didn't get home until 10:45 last night and had to be back at work today, so I bought lunch today & H will have to buy lunch tomorrow.  I don't work Wednesdays so I can get the kitchen back in order

    2.  Any progress toward goals?
Not really, but we have stayed the course this month and I should be able to order our new doors this weekend.  We live in new england and have no back door (took it down when we remodeled the kitchen and it was an interior door anyway) just a storm door, and our side door is apparently also an interior door.

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend?
My husband has to work all three days (he works evenings, so even better), but I will go to a friends bday party & we will have some family over for a BBQ since my brother is home, which will start a few hours before H has to go to work so he can be there for a bit.
  • 1.  We just got back from Chicago last night to end our long weekend.  Fri and Sat were MM since we did some free activities.  Our Chicago trip was spendy as expected but nothing over the top.
I used Priceline for the first time to bid our hotel and that worked out really well.  We had a nice hotel right on Michigan avenue and for less than $100 a night.  I think the total with taxes and fees came out to a little less than $250 for the two nights.
    2. I had a goal of moving some efund dollars to a CD when a good deal came up.  My bank just posted a decent rate for an 11 month CD so I went for it.  It is not going to be anything significant but we shouldn't need this money in the next 11 months so better to have it earn something on interest than keep it in our next to no interest savings account.
    3. We will drive about 5 hours OOS to visit with my family for the long weekend.  My family does fantasy football and we will have our draft party on Saturday.
  • 1.  How MM was your week/end?
Not bad.  $100 on groceries/toiletries, $40 on gas

    2.  Any progress toward goals?
Put $700 aside for Hawaii. Woot!  Not as much as we were hoping for, but we'll take it.

    3.  Do you have plans for a long Labor Day weekend?
Saturday we're heading 1.5 hours away to spend the morning with some friends.
Sunday I'm driving 1.5 hours to see my BFF.  We're going to a wine festival.  Only negative is that I need to drive back that night so I can't drink too much. :disappointed:
Monday working in the landscaping if the weather cooperates.  I need to cut off the rest of my hostas, pull stuff out of the garden that's done, and I'm hoping to trim all of the bushes so it's one less thing I need to do before winter.
